Sometimes fantasy made me confuse with the figures (too many of them) and also the figurines. Last week I downloaded Circe sample from Amazon, still couldn’t get into it. But after i read your comment, i might give it a try.

1. The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu
Based on unification of China
2. The Poppy War by RF Kuang
Based on Japanese - China war and the poppy war. Warning : violent scenes aplenty.
3. The Odyssey and the Iliad by Homer
If you wanna read a classic fantasy book, go for these two.
4. The Jade War by Fonda Lee
Based on HK triads culture
Other fantasy books or series that have some sort of mythological elements or deals with godhood:
1. The Divine Cities by Robert Jackson Bennett
A world with the gods missing
2. Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
Although, the Mistborn series is probably the better series to start your Sanderson experience, imo.
3. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Not exactly a fantasy, but a SF. Based on Roman mythology. Expect to read some violent scenes.
Hopefully you’d enjoy them 🙂.

Pawn of Prophecy (The Belgariad series). A classic (written in 1970s Iirc) about a world where the gods are at war and there’s a prophecy regarding a young boy. A bit simplistic compared to modern fantasy books, but pretty light reads.

Historical fiction and Fantasy is my favourite genre, but i'm not really into greek mythology. So when this book appeared in "most read this week" and even when it becomes the winner of Goodreads Choice Award 2018-Fantasy Categories, i was not interested to read it, believing that it won't be enjoyable and interesting enough for me to keep reading until the last page.
But recently i feel bored and decided that i will give it a try. And it turned out to be sooo good, i'm so glad that i found it.
Miller wrote it in a really beautiful way, i feel myself swept away to the land of the god and do not want to return.
Do you ever read something about the goddess Circe?actually i didn't. I thought that the god and goddess in greek mythology always had the same circumstances, they all born with greatness. I never knew that there is such a powerful goddess that comes from sea nymph that considered as weak creatures. Let alone possess a special power that is feared by other great gods.
The story is magical, mystical, sad, beautiful. you'll feel a mixed of emotions when reading it. So i recommend you to read it if you haven't.
After finishing reading circe, i'm trying to find another good book by reading Madeline Miller another novel "The Song of Achilles". It's also a beautiful novel, but i don't really like the theme.
Can you recommend me to a fantasy book that as good as this?
Thanks :)
