Reginald Steers Having met and greeted George at many airports around the world and escorted him to the various British Embassies in numerous countries, I found him to be a very interesting chap. On one occassion in Chile, after meeting him at the airport in Santiago, we were travelling to the Embassy along a road, through farmland, He asked the driver to stop, we stopped,, he got out and proceeded to march into a farmers field looking at the crops, whereupon he pulled a vegatable plant up. And said; How on earth do they manage to grow anything in this soil. It was at this stage that I saw a warning sign syaing; 'Trespasser's Will Be Shot'. I managed to get him back in the car and made a very quick getaway...

I have read his book, and without any doubt, having known this man, I would not hesitate in recomending this book - 'Travel's Of a Fat Bulldog' as a very good factual-read.

Not all "Queens Messegre's were regarded or called Fat Bulldogs! They were (ALL) highly Loyal, Trusted, Mostly ex-military Officers and Gentlemen. I was very proud to have escorted and assisted them on their travels..
