Cat Strawberry (randomstrawberry) | 8 comments Hi,

I've been a Librarian for some time now but have only been working on cleaning up lots of book details or mistakes in titles and such, but I was asked by a Goodreads author friend to delete a quote from their author page but I don't know if that's even possible without deleting the entire quote from the system?

I know how to delete a quote, I found the edit quote button with 'delete' underneath the quote but I'm assuming that deletes the quote entirely and not just from an author page? I'm fine with another librarian doing it but I'd really like to know this stuff for myself for future issues that might crop up :)
Thanks.

Hi Strawberry

If you delete a quote it deletes from everywhere. Are there any likes on the quote?

No there aren't, I'll check with the author if that's what they want. Do likes on the quote affect the deletion?

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2298 comments Yes they do. If you want to post the quote we can take a look - but normally if an author requests & there are 0 likes it is fine to delete.

Edit: If there is a typo it is easier to edit it for them.

Cat Strawberry (randomstrawberry) | 8 comments I'll check first with the author if they actually want the quote deleted at all (not sure if they're online right now though). I don't want to go deleting it if they'd prefer it edited, lol. Thank you :) ! I'll update here when I know :)
