Saffron I chose to read The Nightshift by Stephen King because I am very interested in horror stories. Especially stories by King. I think he is a talented writer who uses out of the ordinary words to describe simple situations in his stories. For example, in his short The Children of the Corn, he uses words like “pregnant silence of this place” to describe the eerie nothingness of the deselent church. If you enjoy well explained, vivid stories you may enjoy these Stephen King shorts. I felt like this book was very interesting. It offered an abundance of stories ranging from a rat infestation in a renovated basement to The Man Who Loved Flowers. In this short, a lonely man struck by extreme grief kills various women after realizing they aren’t his love who had passed ten years earlier. What I like about this book is that if you are not enticed by the first or second story, skipping ahead a chapter brings you to a whole new, separate story which has no relation to the first. Night Shift by Stephen King is a thriller consisting of 20 short stories. The various stories are all critically acclaimed. Each story more detailed and well executed as the other. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy short, mysterious, horror stories.
