I'm almost done with book 4 and I have no idea who did what. Which is good because I get bored if I figure the bad guys out too early.

As typical with this series, I have no idea who did what to whom yet and that's good. I really like Johnson's writing style. It just occurred to me that this one and book 4 had more indicators of time jumps.

Although I suppose he could have lost and then we could have had a couple of books where he is dealing with that and stuff. I've listened to 2 of these in the Wait for Signs Collection. Sheila post 41:(view spoiler)[I wonder why Walt paid for the bible and let him go? Maybe because he took it as Martha sending him a sign? I could have sworn in the first book that he says he and Martha didn't really love each other and just stayed together because they didn't know what else to do. But in the shorts he seems to be really grieving her like she was his deep love. (hide spoiler)]

I've read the first few. (view spoiler)[ I loved the first story with the old Indian trick. Lonnie is funny.

As for the bible story, I think Walt and his wife had a conflicted, but comfortable marriage. It doesn't seem like any sort of epic romance from the little we have gotten to hear about it, but it seemed comfortable. I thought the way he handled the bible salesman was perfect. I do think he felt it was a sign from Martha and hopefully scared him straight. A very Walt way of handling things. My question is...did he cash the check?

as always, I love Walt's sense of humor and personality. He downplays the bench pressing he did years ago while at the gym with Cady.

It is great to finally get a little background of Walt 's time in Vietnam. It is mentioned I believe in each of the previous books.

I think this one was my favorite so far. I loved the back story of Walt in Vietnam.

Sancho getting shot surprised me. Even as a minor character I am happy he will be ok. The scene with Vic rejecting Walt when he bumbled through asking her out for a date was hilarious!
I was sad to see that Walt couldn't help Virgil more and that he left but I think it fits with Johnson's writing and how he is portraying Walt. (hide spoiler)]

The first of the month get's crazy at home and with book challenges, but I really want to read this one.

On a side note...

I just saw where Craig Johnson latest installment is to be released May 15th! Dry Bones: A Walt Longmire Mystery. I was hoping this was still being written! YAY!

Ohhh I finally had time to start book 2. I like that it pretty much starts off right where book 1 ends. I really like how the author blends classical references in with the cowboy west. It makes the series really fun!

I have the next 3 or 4 in the series as I was smart this time and just put them all on hold. But I'm going to finish a couple of other buddy reads before I start book 6: Junkyard Dogs.

I keep wondering where Johnson is going with the series. Walt keeps mentioning that eventually in two years he is handing the sheriff title over to Vic. The election is coming up in November... will Walt run? (hide spoiler)]

Death Without Company

I am wondering why the doctor would be driving in the middle of the night in a snowstorm, and who would try to stop him. I don't see any family members looking like they need the money though.
