Looking for SFR with NO Aliens!
date
newest »

Is humans battling aliens ok? Or has aliens but not as H/h? I’d recommend Anna Hackett’s Phoenix Adventures or Hell Squad. Veronica Scott’s Sectors (Not Badari Warriors — those are excellent but alien). Ed Hoornaert’s Repelling the Invasion series, or (despite the name) Alien Contact for Dummies series. Lindsay Buroker’s Fallen Empires or Star Kingdom series. Or her Ruby Lionsdrake series Mandrake Company or Star Guardians.im sure there more but my brain isn’t awake enough right now.

Nope, looking for specifically no aliens at all, even as the bad guys. Although I think I've read just about everything you listed and really enjoyed them!
I've just got a bug in my ear about trying to find all-human SFR.
Thank you, though!

Grabbed the first one. Is it romance? I mean, I don't mind either way because I read straight SF, too.

Snagged it! Thanks for the rec!

Me, also.

But I've been on the hunt lately for more human-centered (cyborgs ..."
Hi Sela,
Two of my books, Inherit the Stars and Farewell Andromeda are human-centered (no green/blue/purple/scaled aliens, just different human subspecies) space adventure romance. And my story, SpyDog, in the Pets in Space® 4 anthology releasing October 8th is also part of the series and has an all-human cast...except for one SpyDog. :)

It Starts with a Kiss
In this universe, when people are referred to by what planet they're from, it's like how we refer to people by what country they're from. Humanity has already colonised and established government beyond earth.
This book, which came out a couple years ago, is set in the same universe, but at a much later point in time. Again, all human, though a previous conflict with an alien race is referenced once or twice.

Hope you find the books you're looking for! Happy reading :D

The Wanted and Wired series by Vivien Jackson has tech, but no aliens. The techy beings seems almost alien - and human - all at the same time. It is set in a dystopian future on Earth. Very creative with the SFR and lots of steam at the same time.

I read this a long time ago, but remember it as also being tech-filled and dystopic. It has a very good sequel as well. All the good feels, too. Read the review.

Rinelle Grey's Barren Planet series focuses on the decimated society that colonized a planet and the pilot who crash lands there. The world is an interesting mix of technology and pre-industrial. The first three books have no aliens, but the fourth (which has moved on to different characters) introduces an alien.

If you liked the movie The Abyss, the underwater James Cameron classic, you will enjoy this book. Scientists are exploring the deep ocean and things go tragically wrong. Call in the soldiers....

This little novella has a crew headed for a sun on an out-of-control ship.

This series, The Twelve Systems Chronicles, by E.G. Manetti, is an intricately constructed society that emerged from what I believe are people from Earth who explored space eons ago. It has tech, but is really the story of how a woman condemned for her father's crimes navigates her sentence indentured to a mogul. This is a very poor synopsis - see my review. It is one of my favorite series of all time.

Takes place on a Mars colony. Great sci-fi and action, with the story arc of a fairy tale. Liked it a lot. The 3-book series ultimately brings you back to Earth.

Since you said you didn't mind cyborgs, here is a very romantic one set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland of Earth. Wyoming, if I recall.

Another of my favorite series is The Sector Fleet by Nicola Claire. She has created great characters who are part of an organized space colonization effort, fleeing a dying Earth.
Oh that reminds me that I didn’t mention Tracey Coooer-Posey’s Endurance series which is an all-time favourite of mine!

I don't think I mentioned that my current series is human-centered SFR and it was feeling a bit lonely out there amongst all the aliens. LOL! This makes me feel like I'm not shouting into the wind.
And also, now I have many hours of great reading!

In it, Kell, a clone whose programming has gone awry, struggles to save his home planet from a government-backed tyrant, while his companion Zara, a savvy interstellar trader, is just trying to save him from getting too far in over his head. I hope you'll consider it!

But I've been on the hunt lately for more human-centered (cyborgs included because tech is fine) SFR.
Anything with a blue/purple/scaled/horned dude on the cover? Nope. Not for this round.
Also, I'm looking for more recent recs because I already love Linnea Sinclair and Susan Grant.
Thank you!
