Have had to say to someone that this group is not up for spamming. Authors of late have been posting in the appropriate threads and that's great. But spamming is a whole different thing and especially not acceptable from members who don't actively participate. Seems like a bit of a cheek to me. I have taken a look around other groups and many of them take a hard line about this. Here I think we're fairly open and have a relaxed approach but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Just hope people understand.

Yeah I am, like I said especially those that don't actively participate. Don't get me wrong I'm not draconian!! Just don't want the group being taken advantage of. Why should they get to promote themselves if they have no interest in the group, seems unfair to me.

I'm not talking authors, just those that want to self promote and in different genres too??!!!

I think that is obvious to us all, Janet. You are fulfilling your Moderator obligations for the good of the group as a whole. Never feel bad about that.

I think as a group, we have opened our doors to authors, and have some great active members, who correctly go to the authors section to " Promote Your Book", or the giveaways.

That is fine, especially for our regulars, but when authors just join and stick a message anywhere and then disappear, that is frustrating.

Authors sometimes send a PM asking where to post that is fine, that is polite.

But also nice if they do look around the home page and see what's also there to read and where to place particular posts.

Most of the time we keep everybody happy, and that is what we intend to keep doing, authors and readers.

We currently aren't running a BOTM. We may well do in the future to run alongside author Q&A's. At the moment we have Book Pals which is a buddy read and a new Pick Me A Book challenge which can be found in our Books folder. Hope that helps. :))

I'm one of those bad authors lol but I don't advertise. Although I did do a giveaway once. I sometimes get too wrapped up in writing and the commotion at my house and I made a resolution for this year to change all of that. I plan to make myself more available and attend to the threads more often. I am so sorry that I disappear, I do enjoy the Book Pals...I have met some great people through that. I have also discovered some very amazing authors with the book suggestions. Thank you for having me :)

Donna, I'd enter a total of the pages you've read this year so far. Then you can enter new books as you read them. I hope you'll really boost the total!
