message 4471: by J. (new)

J. Rubino (jrubino) I finished, and posted a review of Anthony Oliver's debut novel, "The Pew Group". Written in the 1980s, it was the first of four novels in Oliver's English countryside mysteries featuring middle-aged sleuths, the eccentric Lizzie Thomas and retired detective, John Webber. All the plots involved antiques or vintage pottery which was Oliver's passion (he also wrote a book on the subject.)
Wonderful characters and first-rate writing. Oliver's death brought a premature end to a great series.
