What are you currently reading (or just finished)?
Currently re-reading "The Boys of Summer" by Roger Kahn, and just finished Ida B. Wells' "The Red Record," which was a very difficult one to get through, but is such an important piece of text.
I'm reading "Starting from Zero" by David Gaughran. Before that I read "Songbird" by Gail Meath. My next read will be "Vendetta" by Richard Gambino.
Ready for some glitzy Hollywood bargains made in blood and ancient magic? Here's my take on Nghi Vo's Siren Queen

I read The Yield by Tara June Winch.A compelling narrative unfolding in three related threads that tell of the abuse and oppression of the indigenous population of Australia. It won the 2020 Miles Franklin Literary Award. I thought it was very well done.

Just finished Framed, the sequel to Songbird. Cozy whodunnit set in the 1920s. You don’t need to read the first book to enjoy the new mystery but the real question is why. Why would you deny yourself the joy of all the adventures of Jax, Laura and Ace? Both books deserve more than 5 🌟Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

and finally - A Caribbean Mystery by Agatha Christie - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4622051091
I'm getting set to start Daniel Pink's The Power of Regret. Just finished Mystery by Jonah Lehrer which was a real great read.
I have just started Ursula Le Guin’s Earthsea series, something I missed out on as a child. Getting drawn in already!
Alexandra wrote: "I finished the Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan. It was wonderful!"When I began working as a mid school librarian 12 years ago, he was just getting started. Sounds like he's still going strong!

I'm a big AC fan too! You've read some I have turned down b/c of others saying they are not good -- The Big Four is one. I loved 'Caribbean Mystery.' Do you listen to 'All About Agatha' podcast?
Shadow of Doubt by Terri Blackstock. Very suspenseful with a Christian basis. I'll look for more from this author
'Normal People' by Sally Rooney. It's good, but writing style seems a bit too simple. And I wanted her to sometimes describe the scenes in more detail. And I have just finished 'Crime and Punishment' last week.
Just finished "The Heavenly Table" by Donald Ray Pollock, and really liked it. Themes from his previous works ( "Knockemstiff" and "The Devil All the Time") are revisited here - namely the struggles of the poor in Appalachia, and the depravity that bubbles underneath, but this new book, set in 1915, has a clear and exciting story arc.The Heavenly Table
I read The Writing Diet, by Julia Cameron. I am often trying to cut back to take off five pounds (keep gaining and losing the same five!), and she has some really, really good ideas. She is the well-recognized author of The Writers' Way.
I'm reading (re-reading) two articles in Forbes regarding crypto currencies (blockchain and DAOs). Talk about a tower of babel. These (mainly youngsters) are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, at least in the ethersphere or whatever it's called now-a-days, and I haven't a clue what they're buying, how they make ether (aka money) or how huge corporations are using it to make things faster, cheaper and safer. I think I'll stick to books - my next read is Vendetta by Richard Gambino, which I purchased with real money.
Still in the middle of Ovid's Metamorphoses. Interesting, but life's problems are hindering progress and enjoyment.
Hi Everyone, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted. I just finished Priory by Becky Wright. It’s a spooky, atmospheric tale that’s perfect for paranormal fans. I did leave a review.
Started 'High As the Heavens.' Romance novel set in Europe at beginning of WWI. Heroine is nurse serving as a spy in German POW hospitals. Good dialogue, suspense, settings. I'm enjoying it.
While writing #4 in the VAL AND RODDY DEVERE GILDED SERIES, I have feasted on Peggy O'Neal Peden's GONE MISSIN', which updates the reader s on current life in Nashville, Tennessee, as amateur sleuth Martha Hale tries to find her good friend who has suddenly--here's the title: GONE MISSIN'This captivating "cozy" zings readers at the end, when the cozy goes beyond quirky with a shocker! Highly recommend!!

I am down the rabbit hole of J.P. Delany with having read through The Girl Before, The Perfect Wife etc. Really enjoying the psychological thrillers with a twist with these books!
Where the Butterflies Go is definitely the best book I have read this year. My review is here on Goodreads.
Just finished Ovid's Metamophoses. Review yet to be posted. Let's just say it is a real 'must read'.
Christine wrote: "I finished my 28th book"Christine, I don't care how many books you have read. What might interest me and all others reading this thread, is what they were and what you thought of them.
I've just finished 'Boy Swallows Universer' by Trent Dalton
I usually try to upload a review as soon as possible, but this one is lagging. I'm still trying to get my head around it.
In the meantime, I've started 'The Flower to the Painter' by Gary Inbinder. I'm gonna like this one if the first few chapters are anything to go on!
Cheers everyone. CB
