In my "cheery" mood of current predisposition, I stumbled on the audiobook of William Peter Blatty's "The Exorcist" - I hesitantly forked up the few pounds and started to listen to it... what a joy to listen to the author reading it. The Excorcist

Ancient sword Shattering by C Thomas Lafollette very intense writing with loads of historical back ground though paranormal
I´m currently reading The Castle, by Franz Kafka. It´s been a little slow to read, but very interesting, especially since I´m not an English native speaker.
I am reading 'The Water Above' just published on Amazon. Fascinating story of a family caught in the midst of the Lebanese/PLO/'Israeli war of 1982 So many similarities with the current tragedy in Gaza/Israel
I am reading Hinterland, and getting Kite Runner vibes, but I am really enjoying the story. Well written.
Sylvia wrote: "sounds grim though- depends so much on how well it is written"Well, Sylvia, It begins in a university's beerhall and then upon graduation, moves to a n escape to 'a Cork lined room in Montmartre and from there to Chu Lai as a soldier and then as a disabled Veteran to Beirut to engage in Humanitarian assistance....and then the roller coaster of subsequent drama and trauma begins
Just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Loved the story and the book itself was very well written.
I started reading "Old Blood" authored by Nick Jameson. I started on 18th December, 2023 . I read it for a week. When I thought over the condition of reading, I observed a problem. The book was given to me in pdf format but the pdf app was not installed alongside. I thought of the possibility of writing a review at the end. I did not see any possibility. Therefore, I stopped reading it. As for the books identified under "want to read" in my Goodreads account, I am finding ways to get copies and start reading. Currently, I am reading no book.
Just finished The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi, which was not great.Just started Starve Acre by Andrew Michael Hurley
My books of choice are mystery and crime mixed with a little romance. I'm reading John Hart's "King of Lies"; Betty Smith's "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn"; and Adriana Anders' "Whiteout." "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" is the one I am struggling to finish, but it is so boring that I need to read the other two books to divert the lows I feel as Betty Smith's novel drags on.
Finished reading William Kent Krueger's novel "The River We Remember."
