I'm with Keith, just write :) Spotting plot holes in a synopsis is very different to spotting plot holes in a book. They're different beasts.
I feel you're bursting with ideas and trying to cram them in one book. Concentrate on the earthquake idea, I've never seen that before, definitely develop that. I felt the young searcher is your protag, instinctively I was drawn to his story.

No one can tell if a synopsis can turn into a great novel, execution is probably 99% with the idea being only 1%. Some writers can make growing grass or drying paint fascinating, others fail even to make a gripping concept be readable.
