Does anyone know the title of the book about a library assistant who is the plainer sister with a controlling father (who is not actually her birth father). The woman wrote stories as a child, and her grandmother, who is estranged from the family, collected these stories in a book and reads the stories to groups of people. The library assistant is empowered to be a more assertive person in the end; early in the book, she constantly does things for others and is hardly ever thanked for it. It was a very sweet book, cannot remember the title...Thanks!
