SOLVED. Fiction - Man fakes his own death on 9-11. [s]

Recently read, a man who had a meeting scheduled in an office in the World Trade Center ends up NOT going to the meeting, and instead watches as the events unfold - planes hit the towers, etc. He let everyone believe he was dead, and he started a new life elsewhere. I am almost positive the title is a number, not a word.
