Stephen Fry reading the Harry Potter books goes down like butter. It's such easy listening and he sounds like he's having a lot of fun narrating the stories!

I too am not generally a bit re-reader. I rewatched all 8 HP moves over a couple days maybe a year or so ago. Which I found was a nice refresher, but rereading books (usually) takes me much longer and I tend to just think of all the books I could be spending that time reading for the first time...

Maybe I'll have to share again, now with my youngest who is 8.

Now can be your moment to see what you missed (including scenes in the books that never made it too the screen - like extended scene/bonus features on a dvd hah in book format)

Ashlee!! Hey :) You have to find time to watch the movies. They really are worth all the hype.

I very rarely reread books. There are just too many I haven't read yet that I want to read. But I'm actually currently rereading The Lightning Thief only because my daughter is reading it for school so we are buddy reading it.
It's been over 11 years since I read the HP books, so I'm long overdue for a reread. I think this is just the push I need to actually do it. I'm on Team Tonks.

I'm on Team Minerva McGonagall

That's wonderful that you're buddy reading with your daughter! What a good role model!
I have always felt like it's a waste of time to re-read or re-watch a movie, but there are times it is called for and this is one of those times. We can do it!

I must admit that I have not seen a single one of the movies either. In fact, even though I taught high school for 25 years, I never had an interest in Harry Potter until one of my colleagues told me I HAD to read it. LOL So I felt almost guilt-ed into it and was so glad because the books are SO FUN! I love all of the silly names.

That is my problem, too. I have current books I am dying to read and I feel like I'm wasting my time; however, I don't remember a lot about the HP books and with this challenge I feel re-reading is warranted...so re-reads, here I come!

I'm really looking forward to this buddy read!

I am looking forward to finally reading them now though...at the age of 47! This should be a fun buddy read. :-D

yup! (Team Flitwick here) My trunk is packed & I'm on my way to platform 9 & 3/4. ;) (well impatient to pick up my first book for the challenge, won't be HP right off the bat for me though)

Just picking up dinner and then hunkering down for a good long read tonite....

I'm so glad I'm not alone, Rosina!! That makes me feel much better!

@Kaley i remember that when i was very little my mom bought and read the first one and wouldn't let me read it because she thought the whole thing at the end would be 'too scary' for me. i can't remember what age she finally let me read them [i was still fairly young] but i always found it hilarious because it's really not scary at all and also she let me read those 'scary stories to tell in the dark' books and those were so creepy lol
I always feel like this book is so slow to get started bc she has to set everything up but i'll talk more about that tomorrow. sleeeep now lol

It's been a long time since I've read the series. I'm glad to come back to it.

The first chapter never bothered me. I think it was the touch of magic involved that kept my interest.
