@Taryn
Absolutely. I'd forgotten how funny the twins are!

They have just always been my favorite. Fred especially. I always think it shows a great author who can make children's characters funny. Because they have the limitation of not being able to be crass or swear (my favorite thing in the world). So if you can make me laugh with good ol' clean jokes, you must have some sort of talent. Lol

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I have yet to start it. I have to finish a couple of books before I can start, but I'm looking so much forward to it :)

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Chapters 1&2

I've only every read this book once before when I was 15 so when I started reading it now at age 23 it feels like i'm reading it for the first time again. A lot of the things that i'm reading I've completely forgotten about (view spoiler) It's just the little things that you forget as time passes and you just the watch the movies.

message 105: by [deleted user] (new)

For me it's all the little things she mentions that come into play later in the series like Godric's Hollow. It's so briefly mentioned that I usually forget that she mentions it in the first chapter. That's why I feel the series is so good to reread because you then notice all these things being mentioned that meant nothing to you when you first read the book.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments It's the 10th already for me where I live, but it's an informal buddy read so I don't think it really matters when you start reading.

message 111: by Justin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Justin (rockstarintraining) Yeah, I'm with you guys. I've read this a couple of times in the past, and felt like it wouldn't be as fun since I know the story. There are a lot of little things I've forgotten that make the book just as exciting the third time around. I'm hoping to grab the audio book as well so I can experience it that way, too.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Chapters 3-5

Reading this again makes me really dislike the Dursley's.

chapter 5 (view spoiler)

@Steph
I think it is all intentional. My memory is that she had it all planned out from the start. This is why I think the Cormoran Strike books are also so good, she is a very good mystery writer

Yes, you can really tell the series whether it is book, movie or tv where things have been planned out and where they have no idea where they are going. With the latter you get storylines that peter out and details that contradict each other.

I haven't read the Cormoran Strike books yet but I have the first one. I don't know why but Cormoran Strike always sounds to me as if it should be a type of bird. Weird.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments I'm getting ready to read the book but had to share this since I was sorted into the Hufflepuff house: What House Are You?

Skip the movies....I mean.....lol I am going to get creamed for that. But I remember being so excited for them when I was younger, and then watched the first one with shock and disappointment. Every kid in that movie sucked at acting, even in the later years. I think Emma Watson is a good role model for girls, but her acting in those years was laughable. So was Daniel Radcliffe's (Harry). And I admit that after the series, they turned into better actors. But it was too late for HP. The only exception was probably (view spoiler). The adults were amazing too, of course, but it was little consolation when I had to watch the other three and a lot of the bit characters struggle through.

Justin (rockstarintraining) The Universal Studios ride was pretty incredible. They did a great job recreating the HP universe. Did you try the butterbeer? Delicious.

None of these thoughts make sense I'm sure. I just drank two cups of coffee and am feeling a little silly.

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments One big unfortunate part of reading this for the first time right now is that I already know so much about it that it takes away some of the "magic"

I'm still really enjoying it but there aren't any surprised happening yet when I know that there should be

Whenever I take those quizzes, I always get Gryffindor, which I don't really know why. I always thought of myself more of a Ravenclaw. Maybe my general angst and wanderlust barely gets me into the Gryf.

lol Taryn!
I totally agree

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments Oh I took a quiz and it said I'm a Hufflepuff and people that know me pretty well said that it's true so I guess that's where I'd be sorted into.

Also, Taryn you're probably going to laugh at me because I make some pretty weird comments and go off on tangents a lot haha.

Trust, me it is awesome! I was really really young when the first book came out (middle school maybe?) and I don't remember reading the first two books for the first time very well. I remember the third book being this eye-opening, wonderful experience for me, though. So it will be completely refreshing and amazing to watch you guys go through it. And maybe you won't like them, who knows? It will still be cool to see it through new eyes.

Beth (jasonverlander) | 1567 comments I'm liking it so far! Of course I'm only three chapters in but I still really like it. I just wish I didn't know so much about it going into it, yknow?

Yeah, I would assume it's pretty impossible not to know some spoilers considering how popular the series is. It's almost a way of life for our generation lol

I see at least 20 HP posts on Tumblr everyday so I already know how the series ends and it's just annoying. People think that just because a large group of people have read it that they can spoil the WHOLE SERIES for everyone else.

So i'm Hufflepuff and i'm proud of it.

The movies are alright but they miss out quite a bit including some of my favourite bits.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments I love the movies but I will admit that a lot of really good scenes in the books weren't put in the movies.

Does anyone have a favourite book? and whats your favourite movie?

Mine would be, Book 5 and Movie 3.
