                     Buddy Writing Challenge
November is National Novel Writing Month. At the nanowrimo website, people challenge themselves to write a novel in 30 days. We decided to challenge NBRC, as a group, to write a mini mystery story in 30 days.

Duration 1 to 30 November 2014

Rules
Everyone is welcome to join in. People will take turns at writing a sentence or a paragraph or as much as you like, up to 1,000 characters per post. You may not post twice in a row. Keep in mind what has already been written so the story will flow. Also, remember that NBRC is an all ages group.

Outline
Week 1 - Establish setting, character development, world building.
Week 2 - The mystery - what happened. Something stolen, someone killed etc
Week 2 & 3 - Build tension, cliff hangers. Get close to solving but fail, twists.
Week 4 - Resolve mystery - wrap it all up. "Who done it" and why. Decide on title.

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments From now until the 1st of November, feel free to brainstorm ideas here. Once we start writing, I'll copy and paste peoples posts into a google word doc so that it's easier to read.

Storm How about The Worlds Largest Statue of a Gargoyle has gone missing/been stolen/came to life and flew off? Maybe there's something special hidden inside it? What if it's a big shiny gemstone, or a priceless book! OH! The Lost Crown of a Forgotten Empire? What could the Gargoyle be hiding?? :o

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments You are so creative! I'm more of a reader than a writer.

Anyone have some ideas about characters?
Who stole it/brought it to life?
Who is trying to solve the mystery?
Trusty sidekick/love interest?

Storm How about an assistiant who sees ghosts? << >>

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments The person trying to solve the mystery could be someone who lives in the building that the gargoyle was on/protecting.
Haunted building of course.

Storm Naturally X3

And the Assistant came from another town/city, come to the mystery solver for help with a case of their own. :o

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments Maybe it turns out that the cases are related and the gargoyle actually went to protect the other building that the assistant lived in. Gargoyle protects against evil so some "bad guy" sending evil spirits to take over other building.

Cosmic Arcata I was hoping that one would start the first sentence and then we would keep adding to the story.

I am not a writer either, i just romanticize about it.

How about the Gargoyle is part of a building built by a master mason. The Gargoyle holds the the mysteries to this society and that is embedded on every building. His goal to ....?
