A P P E A R A N C E

Some would assume that Tonk’s appearance would be a difficult thing to describe, her being a Metamorphmagus and all, but they would be quite surprised. Yes, her hair colour has been changing since her birth and her eyes flitter through the spectrum depending on her mood, but she chooses to keep her core features the same in her day to day life. Having a tremendous amount of self-confidence, she likes how she naturally looks and does not have any desire to look drastically different than who she is.

Tonks has a heart shaped face with soft features. Her skin is pale lightly dotted with freckles, which have the tendency to move around when she’s bored. She believes her natural eye colour is a light hazel; however this is only because of her parent’s eye colours and the fact that her eyes spend a majority of their time in this colour. Her skin is fair skin and she is constantly told by her mother to take care of it during the summer. Her build is one that is light and dainty, though she is known to grow a couple of inches depending on her situation.

Tonks has quite an eccentric sense of style and enjoys finding unusual and drastic pieces of style to dress her in. Though she hates to admit it, she does pay attention to fashion like most girls and can’t help but enjoy filling her wardrobe after a post paycheque shopping spree. One thing that Tonks can’t help changing is her hair, which she always manipulates to match her outfits.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Tonks has a very unique and outlandish personality. In her first year the sorting hat had struggled to place her, unable to decide whether her confidence and mischievous personality suited the house of Gryffindor rather than true and just Hufflepuffs. However, lessons from her parents had taught her that the most important qualities in a person were acceptance and honesty. In turn, she was able to be honest with herself and accept that the house she fitted most were the loyal and true house of yellow. Still, this didn’t dampen her rebellious spirit. On the contrary, Tonks would make it her goal to outperform the Gryffindor’s at their own game. With her Metamorphmagus talents on her side, she practically redefined prancing for entire Hogwarts generation.

Although she was born with the natural ability to change her appearance, everything from the colour of her hair to her height, Tonks had never been confused about her identity. Being brought up in a household where she was free to discover who she was, Tonks has always felt comfortable in her skin and has never wavered with her core moral values. This correlates with her friendly and open personality, unlike most people she values personality over appearance and never judges anyone by the latter.

Tonks, though mischievous, has a tremendous work ethic. Her stubbornness and competitive spirit, combined with high expectations, has allowed her achieve goals far past her families hopes for her. However, she never allowed any of these early successes to go to her head. Tonks, coming from a house where success stories like hers are few, values modesty and detests the big headed. One thing is definitely certain; no one wants to be detested by Nymphadora Tonks. With a fiery personality, her temper can be one of her biggest faults. Many a time she has allowed this to get the better of her and her mentor, Mad Eye Moody, has worked tirelessly to correct this.

Tonks has a great deal of love and constantly find her emotions getting the best of her. She is a hopeless romantic and pursues those she believes to be her true love. The problem is, it takes a particular type of man to handle a woman like Tonks. Sadly, she has never found a man that can cope with her strong and outlandish personality, but she remains confident and hopeful. This is because Tonks is an eternal optimist, which is a rarity in her field. However, Tonks is a very unique person and she wouldn’t want to be any different from the way she is.

H I S T O R Y

Nymphadora Tonks was born on the 21st January, 1973, to one Edward Tonks and his wife Andromeda Tonks née Black. Exactly halfblooded, her mother pureblood and her father muggleborn, she was in the eyes of her mother’s family an abomination. However, the same could not be said for her mother and father. A couple who had risked everything, breaking down countless obstacles to be together, Nymphadora was the perfect representation of their love. In their eyes, two people who had believed they would never in this world be together, she was a miracle. As it goes, she was viewed that way by many others. Born a Metamorphmagues, a rarity even in the wizarding world, many reacted to Tonks in ways that differed to the regular child. The Blacks had been rife with jealousy while regular wizarding families had been astonished or slightly unsettled. However, her parents treated her just like they would have if she weren’t have to be born with her unusual talents.

Tonks was sorted into Hufflepuff during her time at Hogwarts, though she rarely allowed this to define her. Constantly creating mischief, if it weren’t for the yellow stitched onto her robes many would have confused her for a Gryffindor. However, she was and still is mightily proud of her house and showed a great deal of spirit towards it. In-between her hours causing trouble for teachers and students alike at school, Tonks manage to excel in a great deal of her subjects. So much so, she managed to achieve Exceeds Expectations in all of the subjects required to train as an auror. This, combined with her unique Metamorphmagus abilities, gained her a place on the selective Auror programme and allowed her to follow her dream career after finishing Hogwarts.

After finishing her education and starting her training to become an auror, Tonks was introduced to one Alastor Moody. The world renowned auror quickly took a liking to her spunk and natural talents and before she knew it, he had taken her under his wing. Flying through her training, thanks to the aid and teaching from her new found mentor, Tonks managed to receive the title of auror in record timing making her the youngest auror in British history. Though some claimed this was simply due to the ministry wanting to benefit from her metamorphing abilities, her passing of all of the required tests proved that she had the talent and ability to perform the job.

Now Tonks is trying to find her place in a ministry that is starting to look more and more corrupt by the day. Spending her time between Hogwarts and hunting dark wizards who now claim to be a part of this new dark wizard frontier, she is starting to learn the valuable lessons that an auror can only learn over time. However, she just hopes that she has learnt enough of them for when the real war begins. (hide spoiler)]

Elias is tall, and thin. You wouldn’t notice it underneath his robes and uniform, or most clothes, but he is slightly underweight. He has dirty blonde hair that is typically worn long, occasionally stringy near the beginning of the year from a lack of care. He’s pale, and typically has dark bags under his eyes. He is heavily scarred from childhood and work accidents. He is not proud of these, and even in warm weather typically wears long sleeves and pants to hide them. Due to this, he is often overheated. He has brown eyes and quite angular, bony features.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Elias is not a friendly person. Generally, he seems a cold, reserved person from the outset. He doesn’t generally like associating with people terribly often, though you can find him with his siblings more often than not. If not his siblings, then by himself. He prefers generally to be by himself, he finds other people generally annoying and other people to be already prejudiced against him, even if they don’t know. Experience has unfortunately been as so. He’s brave, willing to stick up to what he finds as wrong, and almost an expert at conquering most fears presented to him - though there are a few even he can’t get over, such as something happening to his siblings or mother, or him, leaving them behind. He’s a workaholic, determined to do the best he can and make it far after Hogwarts. It’s the least he can do.

H I S T O R Y

Elias is the oldest child of three, to a single wizard mother. Their family never was the best really, never the best off. They lived in a small house, all three of them shared a room and their mother shared with whoever her at-time boyfriend was. It wasn’t much, but it was all they had, and some days Elias wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. His little siblings - sister Kerry and younger brother Milton - were with him almost always, and his mother stayed with them - she was always between jobs. Other kids weren’t fond of their status, and they were teased about it quite often, but Elias stood up for his less than brave siblings. It was a happy childhood none the less, up until he came home from his first year at Hogwarts. He’s been sorted into Gryffindor, and had been so excited and happy. When he’d come home and found out his siblings may not be able to attend some day, he’d thrown himself into whatever projects he could to gain himself and the family whatever money he could - he started with bake sales, baby sat, whatever he could. Now, in his fifth year at Hogwarts, he still does whatever he can - but outside of the school year. (hide spoiler)]

The First Part of the Ravenclaw Girls Party

(view spoiler)[Piper smiled as she looked at all of the decorations and enchantments she put in her dorm. None of the other girls were here yet; Piper got permission to come early in the morning to do her last two classes of the day so she could skip them in the afternoon to get ready for the grand party. She had ever thing about it planned out, so it wouldn't take too long, but she still needed a bit over an hour to have the dorm perfect. Her dorm only was meant for five, but she got the beds to move along the walls using a spell she learned in her first year, Wingardium Leviosa. The beds could be used as seating, but no one was going to sleep on them.

If anyone thought that Piper didn't prepare, they were dreadfully wrong. She spent almost all of the summer holiday planning every detail of this party, which she called simply the Blue and Silver Party. It would sound way too elegant if she called it a gala or soiree, so she decided to stick with the common term "party". She managed to get a list of every Ravenclaw girl, so she sent an invitation to every one of them, even the incoming first years. She handmade every invitation, gluing silver stripes onto the blue background, and painting the symbol of Ravenclaw, an Eagle, on them. Though Piper did cheat a bit by duplicating the text (which told them who was hosting, why to come, where it was, and when it was) and the eagle picture for the invitations. She did make sure they were perfect though, and gluing hundreds of papers did take hours upon hours to do. It was representing Ravenclaw, and she loved her house and its people to death. She lived by the Ravenclaw traits: intelligence, creativity, wit, cleverness, and everything else that made Ravenclaws the best.

After she found out that many of the girls were coming, she started on the decorations. One of the features was that there was going to be ceiling much like the great hall's ceiling that showed the starry night sky. Piper got help from a talented man at her dad's work in the Ministry of Magic to help her with the challenging charm, and it took weeks, but she was intelligent and achieved good grades on all of her O.W.L. exams last year, so she could do it after focusing on it for hours every day.

Besides the sky, she bought tons of delicious treats from many sweet shops, mainly ones that she got from muggle sweet shops in Cardiff, her home city, a couple of days before she left for Hogwarts, though she did buy ten galleons worth of sugary delights on the trolley on the Hogwarts Express. She set all of the treats on a table covered in a deep blue table cloth, and there was more than enough to go around. Piper got a bag quite like Mary Poppin's that could contain many large items in the small bag. That made carrying everything to the school much easier. She even set aside a small area to play Wizard's Chess, Gobstones, and muggle cards. There was plenty to do, and most of the girls would be talking with each other, so Piper doubted they would get bored and not have anything to do.

The final thing in the room was the sleeping bags. A professor lent over a dozen sleeping bags to her, and she already had a sleeping chart for where they would be magically laid out when it was time for bed. The day she had been awaited was here, and she was pretty anxious. Piper is a pretty introverted person, but still, she liked to have fun and didn't mind a social event every now and then. She hadn't had many good friends during her five years at Hogwarts, though still enjoyed it. She always felt like she was missing a little something, which was a good friend, or friends. Hopefully she would meet some girls, or at least one, that she could be good friends with. The party was a great place for people to form bonds, and it would be fun. She glanced at her watch. People would be coming any moment now. Piper took a deep breath, and waited for her guests to arrive.



It wasn't often that Morven received anything like a party invitation, for she was not the most social creature out there. She preferred to be alone, as she was entirely introverted, and she spent most of her days reading, training with Calder, or silently hanging out with Luna and Rolf (when they weren't off to have some of their alone time). It wasn't really conducive to a good social life, but then again, she didn't really need a thriving social life to thrive herself. She was perfectly content to eat breakfast with her brother and his girlfriend and spend the afternoon with her best friend and her sort-of boyfriend. Morven was an expert third wheel. She didn't mind.

However, the hand-written invitation had thrown her off a bit. It was really very nice, considering that Morven had never met the girl before. It was very thoughtful. After some consideration, and setting a time for doing homework, she returned the letter via owl with an acceptance note. However, since parties weren't exactly Morven's specialty, she begged Luna to come with her. It was only unfortunate in this instance that Luna and Rolf were somewhat of a thing now, for Luna did not want to accompany Morven without some significant nudging on Rolf's part. They were really very happy together, and it was good to know that her friends were all right, but it did well to get Luna out and about sometimes. So, Morven knew she would have at least some kind of accompaniment to the party. That was good. Hopefully it would be fun, considering Ravenclaws were extremely creative when it came to almost anything in the world.

Morven wasn't sure what to wear. Since the invitation had detailed that it would be a slumber party, she elected to wear a set of robes over her own cozy pajamas. That way, she could change in a modest way once it was time to do so. Her curly hair had been tamed and tied back, and she brought a small jar of honey lollipops to add to the party as a show of thankfulness. After all, anyone who went to such lengths for others' enjoyment certainly deserved at least some sign of gratitude. Her parents had been very effective in raising Morven the proper way, and she wanted to be as polite as she could be without detracting from the easiness of socialization. Apparently, being cordial and polite and cool was not the best way to make friends. It was unbeknownst to Morven until it had been pointed out to her by a Gryffindor acquaintance.

Arriving at the dormitory, she heard a soft popping noise as her jaw fell open. It was beautiful-- all decorated, with food and games set out. Clearly, Piper had worked very hard on this. Morven herself was no good at design or decorations, but it was evident that Piper was a bit more creative. Candies and treats were laid out on the tables, there was a game of Gobstones and Wizards' Chess in the corner, and the space had been magically cleared and ready for use. "How thoughtful of you!" she smiled at her host, handing her the jar of lollipops. "This is for you, by the way. Thank you for inviting me. The decorations are absolutely marvelous. I'm Morven." So far, so good. Perhaps tone down the impeccably polite manner with which she said her words. It was easier said than done. She had been trained to address those she did not know well with the utmost respect, which would do just fine for this situation.



Piper anxiously waited for a few more moments. Was anyone going to come? What if no one came and she was just trying to throw a party by herself? Then it would just turn into a pity party with herself. No, that wasn’t true. Her roommates were at least coming, they kind of had to go to sleep at one point. She took a deep breath. It was going to be okay… She had planned this for many months, and she knew that at least a few people would come. She just needed to stop worrying about everything and relax!

She heard the door of the dormitory creak open, and her heart skipped a beat. Someone came! She turned around to a girl with tied back brown hair that was a bit curly and light eyes. She looked to be in around her fifth year, and Piper faintly recognized her from past years. Her name started with a M… Morgan? No, it was Morven! That was a nice name, it was unique and she had a kind looking face and demeanor. She might be putting on a nice face just to act nice for Piper - no, she had to stop thinking so pessimistically! Well, Morven looked pretty happy to be here and maybe even a bit surprised. If she liked it, then the others probably would as well. She internally sighed of relief and happiness. This party may actually turn out really fun!

Morven started looking around some more, and she even complimented Piper! Well, she told her how she was being thoughtful by doing this party. That compliment was even more than she would ask for. At least someone actually appreciated her time and effort, and hopefully everyone else would as well. Morven handed her a jar of lollipops. Mmm, she loved candy. Piper smiled, ”Thank you so much for coming, and for the lollipops. I love candy.” She laughed a bit she sat the jar of sweets down on a small table next to her. (hide spoiler)]

Kat + Kate in the library (kate is a 'puff in her year)

(view spoiler)[Kat caught her breath as she made her way into the library and sat into a chair. She was talking in the Gryffindor common room with some other fourth years until she realized what time it was. She is usually a relatively punctual person, but that's only because. She feels bad making the people she's meeting late. Sometimes she just gets distracted and behind schedule. Kate, the fourth year Hufflepuff she was meeting, wasn't there yet, so she didn't feel too bad. It was only three minutes after the scheduled meeting time, which was pretty good considering that she got to the library in only a couple of minutes. She sighed as she took out some parchment, a quill, and ink for them to work with.

Kat hated the library. It was so quiet, she was surrounded by people who shushed her, and it was even a bit intimidating. She never went there for pleasure; it just made her uncomfortable. The only reason she came here was because it was the best place to work. She much rather work on the Great Hall because at least there, she wouldn't have to worry about being quiet or normal. Though if a professor or prefect came across them, they would probably deduct house points from them for being in the Great Hall after eating hours and maybe even give them detention. She cringed at the thought of detention. Last year, Kat had to scrub the dirty toilets, and they were nasty. She took her mind off the thought of detention. Kate would probably like this place better, but who knows, maybe she hated the library as well.

She didn't know Kate very well, but she seemed pretty nice. The professors often confused the two simply because of their names. She didn't understand it though, they looked nothing alike and were in different houses. Kat was almost sorted in Kate's house, Hufflepuff, and she usually got along well with all of the Hufflepuffs since they accepted her oddities, so they should get along pretty well. The professor assigned a group project, and the odd man happened just to assign it by first name (well, after the L first names, he did the rest of the students by last name), so Kate and Kat were obviously together. The project was due quite soon, and they needed to work in somewhere with tables that both houses could access, so the library was their only allowed choice.

She decided to get out the book from the class they were doing the project for and flipped to the page about their subject of research just in case they got off task. Kat had learned from past experience that you always needed to have a backup plan (in this case a book) if something went wrong (also known as talking instead of doing a project). Maybe Kate wasn't as talkative as Kat... No, she had seen Kate talk a lot. They would most likely have to spend more time doing the project because of conversation, but that would be okay. At least she would meet a new person. Kat looked up from her thoughts to see Kate walk in, "Hi!" she said in a voice a bit too loudly for the library. Maybe the librarian wouldn't shush her this time...





Ordinarily, Kate expected the worst when it came to Professors choosing partners. They were often immune to recognition of feuds among the students, or else tried to resolve them by placing two enemies within the same partnership. Those typically ended badly. So when Professor Volkov had announced that he was assigning partners for some project on the life and times of the great wizard Merlin, Kate had only sunk lower in her seat. She thought for sure that he was going to group her with one of the annoying classmates, just for kicks. However, that did not seem to be the case. Within a few seconds, he assigned Kate Wingman and Kat Blythe together.

Kate didn't know Kat very well, but she seemed nice enough from what she had gleaned. All right, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad then. History of Magic was tedious, but surely her counterpart would be at least a bit better at the subject than Kate herself. Volkov surely wouldn't simply assign two people arbitrarily to a topic and hope for the best, would he? Everyone knew that you couldn't put two slackoffs in the same group, and that two overachievers would just cause for a power struggle. You had to balance it out with groups. Even Kate knew that, and she certainly had no teaching aspirations whatsoever. Still, she had to be on time to the library, where she had agreed to meet Kat for a bit of information hunting. Kate quickened her step, with a textbook in one arm and the other swinging back and forth. Safere had said something about arm movement being twenty percent of forward propulsion or something, but it had likely been in terms of Quidditch.

Upon arrival into the library, an immediate change took place. The air was thicker, the noises dimmer, and the same sort of suffocation feeling settled in comfortably around her. Ah. There was hardly any natural light, just lamps and candles floating about and sitting on desks and chairs. Even the plush, comfortable armchairs had the feeling of wanting to swallow Kate up. The library. Well, all right then. Just a second or two after stepping in, she heard Kat's voice rise up over the quiet whispers in an excited greeting. Kate jumped and looked around. Oh, there she was. Easy as pie. She felt a familiar sort of energy surge through her chest. Kat seemed friendly enough! Kate grinned at her and moved to join her at the table she was situated at.

"Hi, Kat," she said warmly, settling into a chair and ignoring the filthy looks she was getting from the quiet, bookish students. She could tell they would very much like for her to shut up, but Kate wasn't going to. "I, uh, I should probably warn you I've got this thing called dyslexia. So it might take me a bit longer to read..." she trailed off, opening her textbook hesitantly. She didn't really want to do work right now, and to be quite honest, Kat's extremely bold appearance was distracting her. She wondered how she colored her hair so bright. "How do you get your hair to do that?" she grabbed a lock of her own hair, looking at it and back at Kat's half pink, half blue hair. It looked extremely interesting.





Kat let out an internal sigh of relief. Kate was just how she hoped for her to be: easy to talk to, nice, and nonjudgemental. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad after all! The pair of fourth years did get a few glares from other students trying to read or study, but she she didn't really care. People judged her all of the time, so she didn't think twice about small incidents like this. Kate started explaining dyslexia to Kat, and an outburst of recognition came back to her. She thought for a few moments, then the memory she was looking for came to her. One of her best friends from her childhood named Kathleen had dyslexia. They were really close in primary school, but in year three, she left Kat's school to go to a special school that could help her with her dyslexia. After Kathleen left, she never really was close friends with her again.

Kat finally snapped out of her little flashback about Kathleen and dyslexia and responded to Kate, "That's okay. Reading is pretty boring anyway. It would be really bad if you couldn't taste chocolate. The fact that you can taste chocolate makes up for your slow reading," She helpfully pointed out. It was a pretty random thing, tasting chocolate, but chocolate was the best sweet ever, so hopefully Kate appreciated Kat trying to cheer her up by talking about chocolate. Though she wasn't the best at cheering people up in the world, and once she made a Ravenclaw boy just shake their head and walk away when she tried to cheer them up by talking to them about how they should be thankful that they don't have to wear belts.

Kate, like a lot of the other people she sat next to or talked to, seemed a bit distracted by her appearance. Sure she was dressed extremely a bit odd, but after a few days of being with her, most people just got used to her quirky look. Since Kate was distracted by how Kat looked, she did the exact same thing that Kat would do if Kate looked like she did: comment on it. She just asked about her hair, and her answer was one that she had to explain quite a few times. Kate wasn't the first to ask about it. "Well, I got muggle hair dye to make it colored which was pretty easy, but the hard part was getting it to be half and half, because you have to divide it perfectly. So, I researched coloring spells and such this past summer, and I found a good one, so I used that spell and the hair dye to make my hair colorful and straight."

She paused for a moment. Hopefully she didn't make anything seem too complicated or confuse Kate, because she hates being confused. When you're confused it just seems like people don't want you to understand something secret, although those are most likely not people's motives. "Believe me, I messed up so many times before I got the spell correct. My hair was really ugly for some parts of the summer. I was glad that I was a muggle born so I wouldn't see any people that went to Hogwarts over the summer," She told her in a serious tone, but it then changed back to her normal energetic one. "My hair used to be a bland shade of brown much unlike yours which is all full of life and pretty and a bit curly and perfect. I needed to dye my hair." It was a bit of an exaggeration to say that she needed to dye it, but she desperately wanted to.





Generally, Kate was an amicable person to talk to. She knew how to be friendly and knew how to read social cues quite well. She was much different from the rest of her family, or at least the immediate blood relatives. Her mother and sister were both a lot less social than she, and her father was clearly very emotionally stunted. Her grandfather was quiet, although Kate no longer liked to think about him. Her aunt was loud, but she was a bit air-headed and didn't always catch on to the cues of ordinary people. Kate felt that thriving in social situations was a superpower of hers.

It seemed that Kat was certainly nice enough, and she agreed with Kate on the topic of reading. The Hufflepuff grinned, although she felt a bit abruptly taken aback at the strangeness of Kat's comment afterward. She could still taste chocolate indeed, although that wasn't something even remotely close to the topic they had been discussing. It was a good thing that she could taste chocolate, for Kate loved chocolate. Whenever Molly made biscuits, she would always request they be the gooey, chocolate chip kind. It was slightly ironic, though, because Kate hadn't had dyslexia until after the werewolf attack, when her brain was all wobbly and off-kilter and she could barely see, let alone read. Her ordinary seeing had gone back to its perfect, pristine quality, but the words on the paper floated about like mad. There were just some parts of her brain that worked better than others.

So, it was certainly odd that Kat would attempt to cheer her up about it by suggesting that she could still eat chocolate, but Kate decided to roll with it. She hadn't said anything but the truth, after all. Kate simply raised her eyebrows and smiled to acknowledge the truth of her statement. Muggle hair dye. Huh. Kate hadn't had much experience with hair dye, as neither her mother nor her father nor her grandparents had had any use or means for it. It was quite incredible how much work it seemed to take to keep her hair perfectly dyed and split down the middle. Kate, who was quite good with braids and the like, could not fathom the amount of time Kat must have spent coloring and learning a new spell to get her hair exactly the way it was. It looked very interesting.
