Snowtulip | 4679 comments Czech Republic, my first time, but I’ve had a weird fascination since I was in early mid school and watched the Never Tear Us Apart video...preteen me was in awe (of both the place and Michael Hutchence ;))

Yes, yes I was thinking that it's been a while!!

Are you going to visit Prague as well? If you have the time, do it, it's absolutely worth it!

Predator's Gold is slow reading - terribly slow reading actually. Not that it isn't interesting as such but I just can't seem to actually want to sit down and read it.

And since I'll be travelling this week and most likely not reading a lot, I'm not going to be able to finish 2 books this week either, sorry. But I'm sure someone will be able to cover for that :-)

message 313: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Well, I need to slow down a bit - I said I could read 4.5 books/week and I've already claimed 3.

Are you guys watching our overall books claimed/week or should we be watching our own claims? If I read a book for another challenge do I have to claim it?

E., I can easily do that.

I will start on my Georgette Heyer Gluttony-read :)

Will read The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer & Venetia by Georgette Heyer .

Jenny, we'll be checking that we stay within the 30-45 range in general for the Team.

Also, I think you could go over your 4.5 books as for example, Gemma alerted us that she wouldn't be able to post books for this week b/c of her vacation. So some balancing would be nice. :)

message 316: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8525 comments As E. will be travelling over the w/e, I will have a look on Friday to see how many books the Team has read and will alert you if we need to slow down or speed up.

Alternately, the spreadsheet is visible for everyone. On the member's tab, you'll see how many books you've signed up with and how many books you've already read.

For each week, books are calculated so we know where we're at. It'll show up in the total, which is under each weekly column.

Eldarwen | 13720 comments Mod
@Jenny: no, you don't have to claim every book you read.

If you end up reading way more than what you've signed up with, then preferably claim the ones that work best for Tower Teams and read the other ones for other challenges or for pleasure etc etc.

I'll try to focus my claims here for Big Books, SIN BINGOs, and Slothful reads.

Perfect :-)

And as Melinda already pointed out - if we do need more books for balancing out team numbers, you can always claim one or two more, depending on where we're at.

I've never been able to pin that cover colour down and I have a paperback copy of it...

I'd suggest not using it for a cover colour.

message 332: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments I think it looks mostly blue to me.

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Do you think this is green or blue?

Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

And is this one blue?

The Ghost of Marlow House (Haunting Danielle, #1) by Bobbi Holmes

Melindam | 8525 comments Jenny: Yes for green. The other looks grey to me.

message 335: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Oct 09, 2019 10:07PM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Anyone feel like doing some snooping to see if anyone on the other teams has read Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout this year. I checked my friends shelves and they don't have it but I'm not friends with everyone playing.
(view spoiler)

message 336: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8525 comments Jenny, I'll check and let you know.

message 337: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8525 comments Also, I'll double check The Ghost... book in the Captains' thread whether they think it's blue enough.

message 338: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Thanks Melindam! It's a toss-up for me too but when I look at the cover on KU it looks blue to me.

message 339: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I have another questionable cover for you:

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews

Green or no? If so, and if we can find someone on another team that read it this year, it's a SIN BINGO.

message 340: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13720 comments Mod
There's too much other stuff on that Ghost cover to be considered over 50% blue, and I'm not entirely convinced on the blue.

Never struck me as enough green to count for a >50% cover colour.

See, I see Oppostion as more blue than green hahah. Either way, it's turquoise/aqua/whatever you want to call it, so not really one or the other..

Yes, you are right. This is truly one of those green or blue cases that's just too frustrating.

Jenny, I have posted both to the Captains' Group for a final decision. Will let you know.

message 347: by Melindam (last edited Oct 10, 2019 02:14AM) (new)

Melindam | 8525 comments Jenny, as we have been strongly discouraged to post too many questions on colour covers to the captains' group,

I will say NO to both Oppostion and The Ghost books.

Sorry.

I'm off and will be back on Sunday evening.

Please do not burn the thread down while I'm gone.

And please keep the cover questions to a minimum. If it isn't clear, chances are it quite simply will not work. Easy as that! ;-)

Happy reading everyone!!
