I've only read the first one so far but have the second one on my immediate TBR pile. Are Grey and Holy as good as Red?

YAAAAYYYYY! LOVE IT! :D

I can't say it's blowing my socks off, but I find it quite interesting. (I haven't seen the film either.)
The narrator is very good.
I loved the idea of the Hunger Games but the writing didn't blow me away either.
Collins cannot write endings. I hated every single ending in that trilogy (the epilogues *rolls eyes*), and I really did not enjoy the third book in general. And there was an instance in the second book where I just wanted to throw my boxset in her face.

Book 2 (Grey) is pretty good for the middle book of a trilogy. I tend to find the middle book is the hardest to get through (notable exception -- Hunger Games, but I digress). Book 3 is AMAAAAZING though. There are some really really epic moments. Overall, I really loved the series and I'm glad he's writing another series in the setting.
I think my fav part about Book 1 is how you slowly figure out what the moon is and why there's ice. The fusion of sci-fi elements in what looks like a relatively straightforward fantasy is so awesome.
As for HG, I agree with you both that the writing style is not that great. I like the story, but the amount of sentence fragments is really annoying when I re-read the series as an adult.
My unpopular opinion re: HG is that I actually really liked Book 3. It felt like every event that happens makes sense (with ONE notable exception) and the choices some of the main characters make really tie in the main themes. I can't say more without revealing spoilers.

I did, it started a little slow for me, but then picked up and I'll be reading the next book!
I had started Red Sister a few months ago, but then then my library period ended, so I'm stuck in the world of waiting to know what happens :(

I never got over the fact that Laura Linney (the nice girl with the sick brother) did not get her gorgeous guy in the end. I still bawl my eyes out over that one. 😭😭😭😭

I get so annoyed with her but I understand the decision she had to make. But it was frustrating! Like why can't she have the guy and look after her brother?!

In my head, they try again after Christmas, maybe for the New Year. Because they'd be good together and she needs a break from her phone.

There is a "sequel": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Nos... It is a short film. I never watched it.
Stacie, just to let you know, you have Mrs Everything twice on your shelf. Once with a date, once without a date. Not sure how ocd you are about doubles on your shelf but wanted to let you know :-)

Yessss! I also added a scene in my head. After leaving the hospital from her visit to her brother on Xmas day, Karl is waiting for her outside.. with open arms and a smile on his face. :)

I was wavering bw 3 & 4 stars. I found the story intriguing even though the writing was average. The narration was excellent and made me want to go on listening and also I'm interested enough to go on with Book 2. :)

We already spelled out ALLOWED & almost STELLA(r). Only 1 book is needed for the latter.
