Jammin Jenny wrote: "Where are the BR threads for the books mentioned above? Can you add a link to them in one of the messages on the first page of this thread? Maybe in the same message you linked the BOM threads?"

They're in the BackRoom! (For obvious reasons *cough*)

So first off - are you a member of that group?

Here's the link to the Darcy one: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Eta: The other one isn't actually a buddy read, but Cat issued a challenge... because it's so so terrible apparently, she'll award mod points to whoever makes it through. ;-)

Melissa | 247 comments I have KU, so I can download interstellar super explorer or whatever it is (can’t see the comment right now). But the question is, will it be worth whatever points we will get to suffer through it?

message 1055: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13731 comments Mod
Ah.... that is a question I cannot answer for you, Melissa.

I am told by reliable sources however that it is deeply disturbing in an incomprehensible kind of way.

It is however only 157 pages long..... ;-)

message 1056: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments That's the beauty of both of those books..you don't have to struggle through them for long if you can just close your eyes and thing of England.

message 1059: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8539 comments For the Darcy book extra points, you have to participate in the buddy-read.

Vianvamp,

could you fight with your GR please? The book's read date doesn't appear on the shelf.

Thanks!

Melissa | 247 comments I’ll go for the interstellar book when I finish The Help for book club this weekend and the Tommyknockers. I have several of the “bad books” sitting at home waiting to be read.

message 1066: by Vian (new)

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments And???

I didn't mind it that much. I just saw the live production so I think having the transitions and moving parts in my head helped move the story along for me. I know some script writers don't like too much/too many scene descriptions, but I think that the story really suffers without the "magic" of the HP world. Considering how many scenes are present, something like 20 in one of the acts, I would think that the script would be longer.

I also had issues with the characterizations of the original Potter crew, I hated Ron in this.

IF, and that's always a big if lately, everything goes to plan, I'll have Hunted done tonight. That should hopefully make for a good insertion somewhere on the prompts for consequences or maybe even something someone said. All mysterious like ;-)

I'll also try and finish up that fabulous bad book I'm reading, which incidentally is longer than what GR and even Amazon says... I'll have to check with a librarian to see what can be done about that as I'm reading 40 pages more than what is written anywhere - terrible pages, I might add hehe.

message 1082: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Nov 07, 2019 02:59AM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I should have these three books done tonight:

The Tommyknockers - on bad books list, 747 pages
The Chestnut Man - BOM and DQs makers
Vacationing on Planet Xanax - small book (not on bad books list) - maybe "planet Xanax" is where they met?

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Quick question. I'm going out of town this weekend. I still expect to be able to read but I'm not sure I'll have the chance to update not on the app before deadline. I'm going to try. What happens if I can't get online before deadline using anything other than the app?

message 1092: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8539 comments Stacie, the bad books challenge is going on until beginning of Dec, so you are OK to read those to your hearts content. :)

If you're only on the app - don't worry about the completion post (I know from experience that the app and phone screens suck for proper completion posts...).

Just give us a shout that you're done with a book and mark it as read - we'll do the rest.

Eta: worst case, if the app is being a pain again, visit GR via your phone browser. At least you'll have all the right options for marking your book read that way.
