Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

I have a bit of free time at work today it seems, so I'm using the chance to do a little sneaky online reading, namely a bad book - Turned. It is seriously short with only 150 pages but it also just turned seriously weird at the end of chapter 1.
I haven't dared yet, but it was our very own Eni who "recommended" this one and I'm beginning to be inclined to agree with her that it's slightly crap.
It's a mix between Save the Last Dance, American History X and Twilight, sort of.

What a mix! LOL. :D
I know o.O
And then that's absolutely nothing in comparison to the way time passes! I am totally amazed!
MC wakes up at 8.15am, late to school (duh..). But then - get this - at 8.40am, when she arrives at school, there are only 15 minutes left to her third class! (Apparently they start reeeeally early at that school.)
And somehow, once the bell rings, after those 15min have passed, she goes to the cafeteria, which for me would mean lunch, but maybe I'm just not used to the American school system - or the system in her alternate what-the-hell-kind-of-timeline-is-this school.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret - this could work for a person's name?
North and South - this could work for where they met?
Is that right?

Where I teach the first recess for high school is at 11am 😭

Huh, yes, for such a big book, it might be a good idea to have someone give you a good reason. Otherwise, it's going to end up another one you're going to 1 or 2 star ;-)

I'm substituting... book 1 was mentioned, I'm on book 5 of the series, so.... reading book 5.
I'm pretty sure we talked about this as well but forgot to put it in the rules in the end.
But I'll talk to the other mods, see if we're adding it retroactively, but shouldn't be an issue.

Mini challenge Lust, Part 2
on Bad Books List, recommended by Sarah from Team Wrath.

I listened to the audiobook last summer, now I read the kindle version.
I was partly entertained, partly annoyed and partly disgusted by some parts for the first time and gave it 3 clean stars.
This time my aversion grew even stronger & and I was considering taking 1 star away.
It's book 4 of the Austen Project and a modern P&P take.
On a very superficial level, this was entertaining, and the author managed to translate the secondary characters quite well and to a certain point, even Darcy.
But "Liz" & her -ahem- friend Jasper Wick. UUUGGH , I was seriously disgusted by them.
I had the feeling that Curtis Sittenfeld was experimenting by giving Elizabeth a "Carrie Bradshaw" makeover and the result was .... well.. off-putting, to say the least.
Stacie wrote: "It has to be the actual book, right? No series rule here? Some of them I haven't read the others in the series so I don't think I should just jump in."
Yep, the powers that be have decreed it has to be the exact book. So if it's a #4 in series, I'd advise thinking carefully if you want to subject yourself to the books, just in case they're gradually going from bad to terrible. ;-)

Next episode in "this book is rather terribly written":
A guy got beat up - usually when the face has been beaten and kicked, you see it rather well, right? Ah, but not here! He's wearing sunglasses to hide his face! And you cannot see a thing :-D
Of course, when he takes them off.. only then does she realise his face is all purple and swollen. Eta: Oh, and he has cuts and bandages on his forehead.
Where can I get these magic sunglasses??

Hahahaha ;-)
It's short, and it's for the mini, so... and besides, it may be terrible, but it'll give you some entertainment with all these hilariously idiotic things.

I'm not sure as it does not refer to the clothing. Let's hear what E. says about it.

Thanks Stacie! I have updated our BOM table as well
