Thanks for the clarification on “Dark Fantasy”

Sorry didn't see this earlier!
So in terms of points, longer books do give us more points. For books betw 100-499 pages, we only get 0.1 points per page. 500-799 give us 0.15 points per page. Over 800 gives us 0.2 points per page which is twice the points for each page. So it really depends on what you have the capacity for. If you can read longer books still keeping up with your #s, that would be awesome. BUT that might not always be the case so read what you can since we'll still get points for every book you read. Also participating in the BOMs get us a lot of extra points (at least 20 points) so if you can stomach reading the books picked, it would really help.
That being said, we still have to keep tabs on the # of books we read because if we fall under the minimum, we do get penalty points. We just made it this 1st week because there were several players who were not able to read their target # (what they should be reading based on the # given in the sign-up form). Unfortunately these #s cannot be changed as that it how the teams were formed (every team at the same target # of 38 books/week). The #s we signed up for are listed on the Member Info tab, with a break-down for how we do each week.

Some of these color covers are tough. I feel like I'm partially color blind! It would probably be best that it not be used for color. At least it works for Top Shelf Contemporary.

I'm feeling pretty torn on what to do in my planning for the coming weeks. I have the highest number of books to put up each week, but I had based my sign up numbers on my typical monthly average. If I start going with books long enough to earn the extra points, I don't know that I'd be able to keep my numbers up. I feel like one way or the other, I'll be hurting the team somehow and I just don't know which way is better. If the captains have a preference on how I should approach it, I'm wide open to any advice. :)

Not sure that it's 50% brown."
Ok, it was pretty close so was crossing fingers. Thanks!

If you are able to fit in some longer books, even if they are not 800 pagers but more 300 page books rather than 200 page books, that would really help. Don't try to over-extend yourself or stress yourself out since you know what you have time to read each week. As long as everyone keeps to their target #s, we should have a little more leeway.

Ok thanks. How's ur reading btw? Anything good?

Okay.. I guess haha. Before the beginning of this month, I signed up to do a few large BRs for YABC and I'm struggling with them because they're so dense and not that interesting to start off with, so I'm having to DNF some and just the stress of letting my reading partner down (to be fair, she's also DNF'd two of them) and knowing I should be pushing myself to read them, really stressed me out last week haha.
But reading should be fun and relaxing so I'm trying not to beat myself up about it. I just need to embrace the fact that I'm a mood reader.
That being said I've picked a couple of books for this week that I'm hoping I'll enjoy more and will blitz through. The first one I'm reading is Cadaver & Queen which is like a weird Frankenstein retelling and it's historical fiction and sci-fi at the same time? I might not understand what's happening 100% of the time, but it's a fun read haha.
How are you getting on this week?

I feel like I'm in the same boat lol I'm finding it hard to mood read with this sin challenge, but trying my best. I also have some birth books I'm trying to get through, which is hard to squeeze in with all these challenges. My Colleen Hoover helped me get more in a reading mood.
I'm also finding it harder to read physicals with my new commute. Since its a lot earlier and longer, I end up sleeping on the train instead of reading -_-
Just trying to find a balance. And I really want to pick it up on this challenge this week. I'm doing pretty good on YABC though

Ok, I'm going to throw in a couple of longer ones and still try to keep my total books at 8 per week.

I will definitely finish 2 books this week.

Jill didn't know you were pregnant. Congrats!!! ANd yes birthing books should count - they fall under self-help/non-fiction which works.

Green enough? (There is a light green hue over most of the cover but it's difficult to see on some screens).

@Cyndee not sure on that one. I think there's more black than green on the cover.
Thanks Ashleigh! Definitely one of those covers I wish we could use tineye because on there the black is actually a really dark green. But I totally understand why we don't!

Fingers crossed that I can read more than 3 this time.

Good, two books down and working on another 3. How's your week going Kelly?

Book: The Wallflower Wager
Date Read: Oct 16
Page Count: 368
Sin: Gluttony - Top Shelf (Historical Romance)

What do you think Ashleigh?

I finished 1 yesterday and about to finish another shortly. Almost done with Wilder Girls but had to take a break so I can write DQs (it always takes me forever to do them & I usually end up reading my chpts more than once). And have another 2 others going so I have quite a few books in progress! I'll update all my books tomorrow :)

With the 1st week done, and hopefully recovered from illnesses and over the LAVA burnout, we can better prepare for Week 2. I had been focusing on longer books since they are worth more points but if people are unable to read what signed up for, I'll change to shorter books so we won't have to worry about making the minimum.
So can you please confirm at least by mid-week (Wednesday) if you are able to meet your target #, or what you are able to complete this week? You can see that information on the Member Info tab on the spreadsheet.
I should be able to at least meet my target of 6 books this week, though I may be able to fit in an extra.
