Jane Seymour - The Haunted Queen by Alison Weir. I read the previous books in this serious on Katharine Of Aragon & Anne Boleyn last autumn and this has been waiting to read since then. It works perfectly for a red cover
Jane Seymour The Haunted Queen (Six Tudor Queens, #3) by Alison Weir

Does the cover need to be a certain percentage?

It has to be at least 50%.

Stephanie | 286 comments What color would this be? The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1) by Marie Rutkoski
tint eye says brown but since we are doing by eyeball is that ok?

Hmmm, that doesn't look brown to me. It looks more mauve which technically is a shade of purple, but not sure if it's 50%.

Ashleigh - what do you think? We can also go to the other captains for another opinion.

message 114: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Hmm, at first glance I would have said purple/maeve, but yeah I can kinda see the brown. But it's more maeve than brown to me.

I think we could take it to the captains group and see what they say.

message 117: by Jill (new)

Jill | 938 comments Ik I keep thinking it’s time to start since it’s the 1st lol

message 118: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments @Stephanie the captains have ruled that its not 50% of one colour so it can't be used for matching to a colour

It needs to be 50% purple to count, and I think those covers are less than that. Cathy, what do you think?

Sorry, I would agree with Ashleigh that none look predominately purple.

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments No worries
I rather get it right the first time 😲

Manic Pixie Dream Boy (The Underdogs, #1) by K.A. Merikan purple?
Just Here for the Pain (The Underdogs, #2) by K.A. Merikan red?
You. Forever. Always. (The Underdogs, #3) by K.A. Merikan green... I don’t think so

message 124: by Sunshine (new)

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments Dirty Laundry (Cole McGinnis, #3) by Rhys Ford purple?

message 125: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I would say no 2 is definitely red, but the other ones are tricky. Cathy, thoughts? We could take it to the captains group if you think that will help?

about 65% purple
I think between the suit and the lettering may cover it

We are not using tineye and aren't even supposed to mention it. Some of the mods really hate that site! So. If it doesn't look purple by glance, we can't use it for purple cover.

Out of curiosity, may I ask why they dislike tineye?

Mostly due to inconsistencies. Some were questioning results and another wanted to lower amount so one of the Mods put a stop to it and "banned" all tools from being used. So we are down to eyeballing it and having the captains decide.

I thought I saw something on this (light tan) but can't find it. Will let Asheigh pipe in and if needed, post in Captain's threads. Will let you know!

message 134: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I would say this looks creamy to me, but I'll post in the Captain's thread, just to double-check

Ashleigh | 735 comments Stephanie wrote: "Lab Girl by Hope Jahren For brown the background looks to be a light brown color."

The captains have ruled that it's more cream/off-white than brown.

message 136: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments If you haven't seen this yet, there is a new thread for Bad Books - Terrible Reads - Recommendations?!

Stop by and post some of your worst reads! Who knows, it may come up again as some sort of mini-challenge. (Or not, we'll see!)

And there is also a thread for the Favourite Book Recommendations (probably from the sign-up forms).

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments There isn't a Countdown timer yet so I went ahead & created one. Always helps (due to the time differences) to see it counting down :)

Countdown to Start of TT7!

Just 2 1/2 days to go. Time to wind down (finish) current reads & hunker down to start my big books come Sunday (LA Time). Hope everyone's ready!

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments This has been a crazy week. Sick husband, minor (super minor) surgery for kid. Phew.

How has everyone else been doing?

message 139: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Wow that is a lot Kelly. Sending healing thoughts & hope for speedy recoveries for your hubby and kid!

I've been super slammed at work the last 2 days because we had our monthly Partners Meeting today. It's done for this month, now just need to start working on Invoicing but at least that's not as stressful.

message 141: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Sorry to hear that Kelly, sending love your way!

Yessss Cathy! I'm planning on reading it as my first book for TT so I can plan my questions out, instead of trying to come up with them the day of, which I normally do..

Also, thank you for the countdown timer. I was looking for one yesterday because I was sure I saw one somewhere, but yours is very helpful!

message 142: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I'm loving reading the 'recommendations' on the Bad Books thread. The shade haha! Will be adding some books of my own today :)

message 143: by Jill (new)

Jill | 938 comments Contributed to the bad books thread. I hope we don't have to read any of those lol!!

Wrapping up my books. I have my challenge books all ready to go!!

message 144: by Vikki (new)

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1278 comments Wishing your husband & kid speedy recoveries Kelly.

It hasn't been a great week here... sometimes dealing with people voluntarily isn't always fun. On a more positive note, I finally got to meet my friend's baby yesterday. He was born over the summer but due to being awake, having a sore throat, then a cold, and not much free time, yesterday was the first chance we got to catch up & meet her little boy.

I'm itching to get started on my first book for the challenge. I feel in the mood for it. And I just bought a new book today which I'm going to have to include in the challenge as I've been waiting on it being released - Cilka's Journey by Heather Morris.

I really didn't like it!! Have you read One Day by David Nicholls ? It's basically the premise of that but not done as well

message 148: by Vikki (new)

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1278 comments 9pm on Sunday (for the UK)... feels ages away. What am I going to do between now & then?! I've decided to just wait and start the Jane Seymour book for the challenge, but I don't think I've any books short enough to read between now & then. It's very unusual for me to not have any book on the go. LOL. Hurry up Sunday!

message 149: by Cathy M. (last edited Oct 04, 2019 04:55PM) (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments For me it’s 1pm and it’s football day so hubs will be busy. That leaves me lots of reading time that day :D And a couple short stories in the meantime.

message 150: by Jill (new)

Jill | 938 comments I guess that means 4PM for me. And yes football Sunday will have hubs occupied, but I still have so much to do with the house. I will def get some solid reading in though!!
