Jill | 938 comments Oh I pale in comparison to your efforts but I will be back on schedule this week since I am home now. I may get a snow day on Monday too which Will boost my reading

24 is done!

I have one more book that isn't on the SS because I wasn't sure I'd get it finished this week, but I am about 75% of the way through it. It doesn't fit the mini but points are points, right?

message 1004: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Yep! And we're still under the max so we're ok.

I plan on reading more of my anthologies now because I want to try to finish at least 1 this week.

Ash, can you please add Elevation to your TT shelf?

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Hey Namita, didn't you also finish Camel Club this week? Saw it on your Read shelf but not TT shelf and not on our planning sheet.

Though too bad because it's one of the Best of's for the next 2 weeks!

message 1007: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Great job on the ladder guys! Just saw you got 24 books!!

Next week's mini-challenge sounds much easier.

Change of plans...we ended up going out to breakfast so I won't get this extra book finished until after the deadline. It'll just end up being the first one I'll have for next week.

Amanda (writers_soul) | 426 comments Added my book to the spreadsheet

message 1011: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments We have about 35 minutes to check-in and still need:

ASH - please add Elevation to your TT shelf

NAMITA - please add Camel Club to your TT shelf

SUNSHINE - please add the dates read (start & finish) for As You Are. Otherwise we cannot use it.

message 1012: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I think everyone is done for the week but if not, please post ASAP!! We have about 19 minutes till check-in.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Okay gang stats for this past week:

1847 book points
220 mini-challenge points
0 BOM points
10th out of 16 Teams
#3 for Mini-Challenges - only 2 points below 2nd, and 9 points above 4th place so SUPER CLOSE!!!! I should've read more for the ladder last night dangit!

So if we want to place for one of the "prizes", READ READ READ for the mini-challenge :) There are a ton of books on there, varying from Classics to Fantasy to Romance (even several MM). Pretty much something for everyone. At least it should because these include the books you posted when you signed up! I've linked all the books on the Rec Books tab on our planning spreadsheet.

Namita (-namita) | 699 comments I couldn’t get Camel Club to fit anywhere, Cathy!! Do you it can fit somewhere?

message 1017: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Whenever in doubt, just post here & I'll find one :)

I put it under Top Shelf Contemporary.

message 1018: by Namita (new)

Namita (-namita) | 699 comments Awesome!! Thank you!

message 1019: by [deleted user] (new)

Would you say this cover is brown?

Blind Obsession by Ella Frank

The thumbnail makes it look black, but if you enlarge it, it looks more brown.

message 1020: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I think that would work for brown. Skin is a shade of brown, and the part in the mirror is brown which would make it more than 50%.

message 1021: by Namita (new)

Namita (-namita) | 699 comments Question: So the recommended books have to be just that book? A book from the series wouldn't work??

message 1022: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Unfortunately no, only the books on the list qualify.

message 1023: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments Do rereads count for books on the recommendation list?

message 1024: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Re-reads are allowed as long as it has been 6 months since you read it last.

message 1025: by Namita (last edited Dec 02, 2019 01:32PM) (new)

Namita (-namita) | 699 comments Would this be Yellow or Brown Cover? The Cold Dish (Walt Longmire, #1) by Craig Johnson

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson - help getting this book to fit!!

message 1026: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Namita wrote: "Would this be Yellow or Brown Cover? The Cold Dish (Walt Longmire, #1) by Craig Johnson

I would say first book is brown.

Second book could work for gluttony - over 600 pages.

message 1027: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Actually The Way of Kings is on the recommended books list so you can use it for the mini challenge instead and it would be worth more points

message 1028: by Namita (new)

Namita (-namita) | 699 comments Really?? Awesome!! I will add it.

message 1029: by Jill (new)

Jill | 938 comments Can this count for blue?
Girls of Storm and Shadow (Girls of Paper and Fire, #2) by Natasha Ngan

message 1030: by [deleted user] (new)

The number of books on that mini challenge list that I've read in the last 6 months so I can't re-read them is disappointing. :(

I noticed the same...I read quite a few of the books this year, specifically, in the 2nd half of the year!!

Yes for blue.

message 1033: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Namita, don't think you read Theft of Swords yet, would highly recommend since you like some fantasy!

Luckily I've only read some in the last 6 months but there are a ton I haven't yet so I have a list of 30 or so to pick from. Started The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue last night & am really enjoying it! Now need to set aside time to read the BOM since I have DQs on the 5th & haven't started the book yet.

message 1034: by Jill (new)

Jill | 938 comments Ok I'm all signed up for books this week. November was a lousy reading month for me - only 7 books. Will pick it up more this month and hopefully get us to finish strong

Thanks for the recs. I will give them a try next week. Hopefully my library will have it. Dang it, it has two weeks wait. I will have a look to see if there is anything else I can read.

He's a bit of an ass but I love Monty :) It does lose some of its luster later in the book but it's still a lot of fun. Should be done with it soon.

Namita (-namita) | 699 comments Redemption (Amos Decker, #5) by David Baldacci - please help me fit this book somewhere? Thanks

message 1039: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments It works for top shelf Contemporary.

LOL! He is an ass, but he's a charming one. I love his banter...both internal and with Percy & Felicity. I could skip the whole plot line over the box and just have them interacting as they do and be happy. :)

message 1041: by [deleted user] (new)

Ashleigh, I saw you're reading And Then There Were None. Do yourself a favor and listen to Dan Stevens (from Downton Abbey) doing the audio version. :)

message 1042: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I'm going to have to make a change to my plans for this week. I just cannot get into the Red Queen at all and it's slowing my other readings down. That being said, I've been reading Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix with my daughter and we should finish it up by Sunday, so that'd be an almost 900 page book that counts for blue cover that I could put up instead. It won't count for mini, but I'll add some extra minis next week to make up for it.

Speaking of the mini...are we allowed to re-read our own recommendations for it?

Charming for sure! I've had a hard time with Felicity - I love her one minute and can't stand her the other. And when the whole plot of the box started I didn't care for it either but I guess they needed to go on an adventure, though I'm like you and could've just been happy with reading a love story between Percy and Monty.

I've been busy at work so not reading quite as much as anticipated but will be done with Ninth House, It, and Gentleman's Guide today.

Amanda (writers_soul) | 426 comments I’m not going to get anything read this week. I’m sorry :( my chronic illnesses have been really bad and I gotta give in right now so I don’t wind up in the hospital. I’ll be in it for the win next week 💜
