Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
Tower Teams VII
>
Team Avarice

Deadline is 12pm PST, 3pm EST here in the US.

Deadline is 12p..."
On Sunday?

Envy is a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.
Make other teams envious by seeing how many words of at least four letters you can find and spell-out in our letter grid.

Words must be made up by connecting letter-squares. Letter-squares can be connected vertically, diagonally and horizontally, in any direction (so it can be a wriggly word, not necessarily a straight line). Letter-squares can only be used once in each word.
◈ Only books finished between 18th and 25th November will count for the Envy mini challenge (i.e. books finished in week 7).
◈ Books will either count towards the main part of the challenge (the Seven Deadly Sins) or towards this mini challenge.
◈ You will gain 5 points per letter.
◈ You will gain an additional 7 points for each completed word of 7 letters or more.
◈ Words must be in English (sorry). You can use foreign language books for your spell-out letters though.
◈ Only one incomplete word will be allowed (note that bonus points for 7 letter words are only awarded on completion of the word).
◈ Standard NBRC spell-out rules apply.

Ashleigh & I received the details yesterday so have already gone thru & found a ton of 7-letter words (I think I stopped at 23?). We narrowed it down to 6 7-letter words (42 books) but in order to keep our words to ourselves, we will not be posting the words here or on our sheet. If you want to know which words we are reading for (or the words that we found), please let us know & we can PM them to you. Or if you find words that you'd like to share, please PM them to me or Ashleigh.
On our planning sheet, you will find slots for the letters that we will need. Please also make sure to note if it works for other letters so we can move things around if need be.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions!

Never mind, I found the words on the SS.

Hi Cathy, I saw your PM. I’ll be able to finish my books.
Fifty Shades of Grey is on the hate list. We get more points, correct?
Cathy or Ashleigh, when you have a chance would you mind messaging the words to me? I only had a little time to look it over and came up with one that was 7 letters.
I'm going to plan the rest of my reading for that week later tonight so I want to try to keep it from being all over the map and actually work on completing words. :)

You can find all the letters we need on the planning sheet (Envy Mini-Challenge) but I'll PM both you & & Cyndee the words.

I do! Her dress definitely has a shine.

I'll PM you the words now.

That's okay! You've worked really hard and are doing amazing at getting us the best we can get! Thank you!

As much as I loved that Bingo round, it was exhausting. Pulling up books, seeing if we could move things around. I feel like I spent hours doing it! At least this week is a lot easier.
Though I will be out of town from Thursday-Saturday so will try to read as much as possible before then. Going to visit my parents in Vegas so will have time to read, just not as much as usual. Also luckily most of my books were started last week so I got a head start :) And have 2 anthologies I've been working slowly thru for a ton of more points when they are done. One is 1k and one is over 3k pages (a lot of teams have been reading this one - Once Upon a Christmas Wedding) so I've been trying to read at least 1 story a day. I'll be glad when it's done!

38 completed books
1529 Book Points
190 Mini-Challenge Points (+56 bonus points for lines completed)
0 BOM points
Finished 11th of 16 Teams

So you've got them finished as 18th November, so we can use them for this week's books We can't add anything to last week's as it's past the deadline now.

Ugh I'm sorry. I actually finished them yesterday but did it in a rush just now. I am reading an additional 2 books this week, which would bring my total up to 4. Let me know if that's too much
