If I Were Producing a Movie about Edward II and Isabella...

Yay! Another version of my movie madness. Lol. Hope y'all don't mind these. If anyone has any objections I'll stop. Y'all just give such good suggestions for the actors and actresses!!

This time I'm gonna tackle an interesting period from British history...the story of Edward II, his neglected Queen Isabella, and his male favorites. This ought to get interesting!!

As always, if you can think of a more suitable person for a particular role, please let me know!!

I like Debra Messing as Eleanor, though Keeley Hawes was the actress I always pictured in the role.

I think Henry Cavill from "The Tudors" would make a good Piers.

I haven't been to the movies lately, so I'm at a loss for a good Edward II!

I can't think of his name at the moment, but how about the guy who plays Inspector Lewis' sidekick DS Hathaway on the PBS Inspector Lewis series for Edward? I've seen him in other things too and I think think he'd be a great Edward!

Sorry, the Derek Jarman movie was too perfect for me and I can't imagine anyone else in those roles. Tilda Swinton was a perfect Isabella.

The Derek Jarman movie (available on DVD) is called Edward II. It's a very loose adapatation of Christopher Marlowe's play, and is as much about 20th-century sexual politics as it is about anything else.

Ian McKellan starred in the title role of the Marlowe play when it was produced in 1969. Anyway, the performance was televised, and it was finally put on DVD this year.
