One idea I have is a buddy read challenge. I think a group challenge where we try to have a certain amount of buddy reads within the group would be a cool idea. The way they are set up, if you click on the challenge you can see the total number of challenges and how many of them are completed I'm not sure if we could work out a way to set this up, or maybe if we could just make a thread for it in the buddy reads folder to keep track. We could set a goal for number of buddy reads or maybe a higher number and count people in group reads so if we have 2 people In a buddy read we would be two closer to our goal number but if the same buddy read had 6 people in it we would be six closer to our goal. What do you think?

I'm in for the A-Z. I'd also like to float the idea of the Stoker Award nominees and winners challenge.
I have to admit I've found the challenges a bit much this year but I still want to do them.

I like that idea, that's kind of what me and addy do in our non horror buddy reads. We take turns picking and usually I don't even check what her choices are about I just agree to them. She always has better choices than me. I wouldn't say anything go's though, it would have to be something you can get for a decent price and no author self promo of course. That shouldn't have to be said but if we didn't put it out there I guarantee we would have a pissed off author asking all their fans to spam the group with angry messages. Other than those small rules though anything go's.

I have already told you I like this idea but just to put it in this thread I would definitely do this one.

What about an A-Z author's challenge?"
That would be a bit more difficult, I like it though. We could possibly combine it with the way we did the titles this year. If someone wants to try both they can challenge themself to 48 instead of 24 otherwise they challenge themself to 24 and do either choice, or even combine it and do author or title for each letter mixed up.

An easier one is:

This would actually be something that we could use for our group read themes.

I'd love to do a Stoker award challenge and the title challenge again. I think Justin's buddy read idea is great, it is sometimes more fun to read a book with someone else!
I will probably start setting these up next month so they are all ready by January. When I set them up we will have a thread for each of them to discuss how we are going to do each challenge and will have a month to discuss each challenge separately in its own thread before they start. Sounds good?
After tomorrow night my winter break starts and I will be setting up challenges. What are we doing? Stoker awards, sub genre, A-Z, random tbr, what else? I will read through this thread again before I set them up so make sure your idea is mentioned here. I might see if there is a way to make a poll that allows more than one vote to see what the top three challenges are or something like that I'm not sure.

I'd do that even though I'm doing a bunch of other challenges, because his books would count for multiple challenges. I'm also ashamed to say there are a few of his classics I've never read. Addy, you should start a challenge thread!

Haha! That's why it's been sitting on my shelf for so long! Maybe it will be a plus- having such low expectations.
I saw the movie and hated it. I'm not a big Stephen king fan though. sometimes I love his books, other times I love the first 2/3 of them but then it gets so weird that I hate it but I finish it anyway because at that point I'm invested and when I'm done I wish I had never picked it up to begin with.
I would definitely knock off The Stand (I know, I know, I should have read it by now) and the rest of The Dark Tower series. Revival, too.
