Ashley W (starfallreads1) | 6012 comments Do we need to post reviews of the books we've already read in the series if they aren't Re-reads? I did write them, but they are fairly vague. Also, the series I'm reading has twelve books. If one of those is checked out or I don't get to it, do I get the points for the books I've read?

message 52: by Tati (new)

Tati Ashley, for books to count for this challenge, they must be read between November 1st and December 31st. So, if you have read Twilight in October and now you read New Moon in November, you can only use New Moon for the challenge. Each book will give you points, so if you don't finish that series of twelve books, but manages to read 5 books, you'll get points for them.

(Hope it helps)

Started on or after November the first. :)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments What about in-between books? Like #1.5. I know most are under 100 pages, but there are some exceptions out there :)

I think last year we said that novellas and 0.5 's etc counted if they were over 100 pages, but were only worth a maximum of 1 point for the book and 1 point for the buddy read as it can get a bit confusing.

Abbie and I read Ali's Pretty Little Lies (Pretty Little Liars, #0.5) by Sara Shepard , which is listed on goodreads as being 0.5, but you can't read it until after book 8? confusing.

Novella's which are 75 pages - 100 pages are worth 1 point if read with a buddy (0.5 for book, 0.5 for buddy) if they're over 100 pages, it wil be 1 point for the book, and 1 point for buddy. :)

Thanks for clarifying! :)

One other question, just to be sure. If I read a book of a series and I have already read the past volumes, then I get the value for that volume? Say it is book 4 of a series and I read 1-3 earlier this year. Would I get the 4 points?

Yes ☺ If it's number 4 in a series, it's 4 points. It doesn't matter if you haven't even read the other books, if it's number 4, it's worth 4 points ☺

message 68: by Amy (new)

Amy | 2535 comments Sorry if this is obvious but do bind-ups of series count as one book?

message 69: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90988 comments Mod
It depends, if the books are longer than 100 pages individually, and have been published individually, you can count them as seperate books. If they've not been published individually, or they're less than 100 pages each then you can't ☺ Does that make sense?

message 70: by Amy (new)

Amy | 2535 comments Ah okay! I have quite a few books that are in binding form, I may not get round to reading them but I thought I'd ask just in case. Would I have to write that I am counting my submission as 2,3 etc. books in the review thread? Thanks Sarah!

message 71: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90988 comments Mod
I would usually just write a brief review for each book, so if you read Soul Screamers Vol. 1 My Soul to Lose • My Soul to Take • My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent , I'd just write reviews for My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent and My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers, #2) by Rachel Vincent and count them as 2 books ☺ You'll get more points that way ☺

message 72: by Amy (new)

Amy | 2535 comments Ah I see what you are saying, I'll just put them into GR separately. Thank you. :)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4452 comments Hi, would you please add me?
Also, do the reviews of the books we read have to be on GR or can we post a link to our blog? For example, if I read and review The Jewel but the review is only on my blog does it count?
Another question, if I read a first in a series and the second isn't published do I get credit for the first book or do I have to read a series that is already fully published?
Do these questions make sense?
Jackie

We usually only allow reviews posted on goodreads as we can see wen the book was started that way. If you don't like posting reviews on goodreads though, you can write 4 status updates like what you've done here; https://www.goodreads.com/user_status... and submit that. :)

No, you don't have to read a series that's fully published for it to count. If there's a series that's got 12 books in it, but you only want to read books 4 + 5, you'll get the points for those. :)

Rachmi | 4882 comments I thought I'll let you know about this book I've started on September. I've read around 20% before put it on hold and haven't continued it again. I'm thinking to continue reading it again on November since I really want to read its spin-off on December. Can it count for this challenge or should I reread it so that I can include it in the challenge?

Andy Capricorn So... I have like 80 books I could possibly read for this challenge starting mid series, would it be alright if I just posted this link and anyone who was interested in a buddy read message me? I feel like I might get shot down if I ask under the regular buddy read's request because most of them are mid-series...
