Kay Causer (kaycauser) | 4 comments Can anyone recommend any stand alone fantasy/paranormal type books? Or books that are part of the same world but could be read in any order. I like series books but it's hard to find standalone fantasy

yeah theyre hard to find.. warm bodies is a series but the sequel isn't necessary. you could read the first as a standalone

hal A Curse Dark as Gold is a really good YA fantasy. It's a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, and it's a standalone.

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) This is probably my favorite fantasy novel of all time:

Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones

It's a retelling of the English ballad Tam-Lin, and beautifully written. The female MC is a bad-ass who wants to be an old-fashioned knight-errant style hero...and she loves books!

This is another good one:
The Last Unicorn (The Last Unicorn, #1) by Peter S. Beagle

There's a movie, too. It's pretty old but you can probably get it from Netflix.

And then a more modern book:
The Assassins of Tamurin by S.D. Tower

I recommend this one to anyone who likes EON or Tamora Pierce.
