Janelle Collins | 5 comments "Sally is a house cleaner" is the start of the blurb. Set in England & sounded contemporary. She knows everyone's secrets.
No idea of title or author, sorry! Looked like a good read. Anyone recognise it? Many thanks :)

A long shot - Shakespeare's Landlord by Charlaine Harris?

Janelle, around what year did you read about is book?
What's the genre - chick lit / romance, murder mystery, etc.?

Harris' book is set in Arkansas, not England.

Is this a mystery series? I remember a mystery series set in England where the main character is a char, set in "Modern" times. Can't remember the title off hand, but if you think it might be this, I can search my very small (4k+) library here on GR.

Another one where the mc is a char--but is also a member of a the (extended) royal family who works as a char because she's penniless--this is a 20's historical. Her Royal Spyness is book #1.

Oh, and there's the Mrs. 'Arris books. Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris Mrs. 'Arris is a Cockney char in London who has some rather fun adventures.

Those are the only 3 I am personally aware of, although I'm sure that there are others.

Janelle Collins | 5 comments Hi Kris, I work in a library & was about to borrow it for myself, but another borrower got to it first! It looked pretty new, so I would say this year or last year.
Ann, it didn't sound like a mystery of the Mrs 'Arris type or historical, but thanks anyway. Much appreciated :)

Janelle Collins | 5 comments Kris, if anything it might be chick lit, not overly romance or mystery genres. Thanks!

How about How to Be Married by Polly Williams? The main character is Sadie.

Janelle Collins | 5 comments Just tried that one - it's not it. But thanks.

Isabel (kittiwake) | 132 comments Could it be Two Doors Down by Annie McCartney? I have not read this but I've heard it as a radio series. The main character is a cleaner called Sally, but it is set in Belfast in Northern Ireland not in England.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments The Rose Revived has a Sally that cleans houses. It seems to be a chick-lit. Do you remember the cover?

Janelle Collins | 5 comments Isabel that's it!!!!!! You're a genius. Thanks for your suggestion too, Tab, but it's definitely Two Doors Down.
SOLVED!!
