Ella Poole | 3 comments I'm going to say I read this book between 6-10 years ago, so 2009-2013. I picked it up at secondhand bookstore on a road trip, but it was fairly new at the time. Everything I can remember indicates it would have been set in present day. Yellow book with a cityscape (or something similar) embossed on the dust cover. Things are fuzzy, as I've read a lot of mystery/thrillers since then, but here are the plot details I remember:

The character that it mainly seems to follow is a woman assigned to this man's case. Something in forensics, or maybe psychology, or both. I know she was used to working cases on people who were already dead. The man wakes up from a coma (?) and finds a hit list on his arm and anterograde amnesia. He escapes from the hospital with the plan to track down the rest people on the list.

POV changes throughout the book, between may different minor characters. I think I remember chapters in the man's POV where he was using post-its and writing on himself often to keep him focused on the task at hand.

Some extra minutia is that I can remember it following a minor character who was really into Grateful Dead and that seemed to come up a lot. I also think I remember some of the plot taking place in Silicon Valley.

I think the female protagonist is abducted/kidnapped as a part of this, but that could be entirely wrong and from a different book.

I remember a scene on a speed boat with two or more men fighting for a vial or box of some sort. I believe it ultimately tied into the amnesia/Silicon Valley/etc. aspect as a nanovirus. Could be wrong.

I've sunk countless hours into searching, so any suggestions will be appreciated. I want to reread it because I remember it being a really exciting book, but I can't remember how it ended. As you can tell from my *possible spoilers* above.

I can't remember any specific romance plot lines, to this day I still skim over most romantic scenes in books, but the female protagonist may have had one. I think I remember the man with amnesia's mission being based around avenging his wife/family.

No character names come to mind which is upsetting because there were so many characters you'd think I'd remember at least one name!

Ella Poole | 3 comments I found the solution on my own, but figured I'd share because it's a really good read if you're interested. It's The Memory Collector by Meg Gardiner. Part of a larger character series but I never knew that and still really enjoyed the book when I read it.
