I, like many others was stunned and disappointed when I saw that Newt's limp wasn't going to be in the film! But then, after I watched this interview, I DID end up spotting it several times!
When the doors close for the first time in front of Tommy, and all the boys are walking away, if you find Newt, you can see it.
Also in another scene where Tommy and Minho come back to the Glade after exploring section 7, and they're explaining what they found when the group is walking away from the doors and Newt is to the side and you can notice it there.
Also other times in the background, but the most noticeable scene (I thought) was right when the group runs into the Maze to go to the Griever's home, leaving Gally and a few other Gladers behind at the end. As the group run through the Maze, Newt's limp is VERY noticeable. Just watch him, seriously, he's limping all over the place :p
I decided to tell you guys this because I know there are a lot of fans annoyed because they claimed it wasn't in there, but it was.
I'll definitely keep my eye out for those parts when I see the movie again in a few days :) I actually think I did notice Newt's limp when their leaving Gally and a few other Gladers behind to go to the Griever hole (I still call it that, haha), but I thought it was just all in my head. :P
i know that a lot of people were really upset about it not playing a bigger role in the movie, but personally i don't know that it added or detracted from anything. i feel like there are points in the other books that it would need to be more overt, but at least it wasn't written off before as something that wasn't relevant at all.
Does anyone know what side Newt's limp is on? I am doing a cosplay and to be as authentic as possible I need a limp. I was watching these scenes but I couldn't tell what foot/leg was the 'injured' one, anyone know?
At least, because they added that, we know in the third movie (view spoiler)[I'm giving you a chance to redeem yourself, also a big spoiler.(view spoiler)[Are you sure?(view spoiler)[Okay, we know he's gonna tell Thomas that he tried to kill himself in the Glade which means they're gonna tell him he has the flare or he's going to find out! I have high hopes now. (hide spoiler)](hide spoiler)](hide spoiler)]
