Sebastian (sebastianpreads) I'm from Puerto Rico! A territory of the USA but with a very different cultural feel, so while I consider myself both, I feel Puerto Rican before American.

It's a VERY conservative and Catholic island, which is frustrating as a gay, trans Jew, but the young people are a lot better in that regard and even in frustrating moments, nothing beats out the Caribbean spirit.

I'd love to see more books set there. I've only read one (adult) gay story set there in recent years.

<3 I'm glad if we can find books that you enjoy. I hope all is well with you and yours in this difficult time over there. I have a friend recently back from Spain and she loved living there.

happypintz | 2 comments Here the situation it's difficult, but everything has its positive side, and in my case is that I started reading a lot again :) I really like Fiction, and books like Red White and Royal Blue or Love Simon (and a bit of erotic novel too)

Victoria (vicisbookblog) | 2 comments I´m from Germany and I don´t hate it here but I would love to move to another Country. In my region the LGBTQ+ community isn´t that large and the attidude towards it is not bad but some people are still not really accepting them… especially the older generation.

The weather here is a mess. One day it is really hot and the next you need two jackets. The summers get really hot and I hate summer.

That's interesting because that's not how I picture the weather in Germany, as really hot in summer. But then I bet it's hotter now than 40 years ago...

Rhiannon | 4 comments I am from Bucharest, capital of Romania. We still have a long road of acceptance and giving rights to the LGBTQI community in my country. I don't hate it but I'd rather move to Ireland, for that reason and ih soooo many others. Books are keeping me sane since i don't really have many friends. I am here to find new books but also new people to connect with :)

That's one huge step forward from when I was younger - the ability for people in places that aren't accepting to find both information and friends online. I hope we can help you find good books, and more.

I know, right. I was from downtown Montreal, and when I was at school in San Diego (back in 1972... dating myself) some of the kids asked if we lived in igloos in Canada.

So my question is, which cities (if any) have a vibrant LGBTQ community neighborhood?

I struggle to find community here, I've always been the odd one out in groups though, a bit of an isolationist but Anchorage I hear has a big scene, especially with Mad Myrna's being (I believe) our only gay club. I live in the Mat-Su Valley though.

:) We have a fair contingent from the UK. It sounds like, much as in the US, the big cities are pretty welcoming, the rural areas not so much, and the recent politicians are using trans people to score phobia points in the polls?

I'm glad you have an oasis for arts and diversity in that state.

✨scribbles and stars✨ I live in a small town in Ohio. Its a pretty good place. Im okay with it. But what I really want is to move to Columbus. My friends all say I'm crazy, and that I should stay right here. But I've kind of had it with all of the homophobic and racist comments. All of the places of importance in my town are governed by old white men. I feel much more myself when I go to Columbus. (Plus, the libraries are much better there!)

gryffin (gryffinexists) I live in Fort Wayne, IN, a medium-sized city with a loud LGBTQ+ community. We had a school play that got shutdown, and the Pride organization took it into their own hands and we got on national news as to what happened. I love living here, and don't get me wrong its a great place, but my soul doesn't feel home here.

I've been in exactly the same situation; lived in places I've felt a lot of affection for, yet they weren't right for me. They weren't home. I hope you find home.

Arimi Reads (arimireads) | 59 comments Hi I'm Louis I'm from Lancashire, England. My family roots are however muddied in Canadian, American, Scottish, Welsh, English and Irish. Which also reflects in the fact that my family is very well fractured. But don't be sad- because we're fractured for standing for different religious/lgbtq opinions and stick with the family who accepts us :3 I know this is a priveledge I have and I'm very thankful to my family I do have.

I love reading and playing video games. I also love learning more about the world around me. I want to read more books from the area around me as I discovered there's loads of authors locally I didn't know existed for one we have Sue Cunningham. There's also a lot of authors using Gawthrope Hall as the grounds for their books so I might just you know look more into that. Plus the Spooks series.

When I was a teenager I had a seizure and the spooks author came back after the day he met everyone else, when I was out of hospital just to visit me and sign my book in person because my teacher had said there was one person super excited about your books who's unfortunately had a bad experirence and is in hospital. It was a thrilling experience to meet him and he told me how he works at a hotel and writes books and the bad guys are usually based off people he doesn't like that he's met through his day job and I thought he was hilarious.
