CthulhuKitten | 11 comments This is a book I read around year 2000-2004. I read several books by the same author, but can't remember the author's name or the title of any of the book's titles. If you could help me find either of the books or the author's name, I'll be able to find the other ones from there. All the books are set in relatively modern day and in either England or America (I think). I also believe the author to be male and either British or American, but this is just guesswork on my part.

About the book
The main person is a grown man that works at a university (I think). I don't remember much, except the ending

(view spoiler)

It is a full book, I would guess about 250 pages long. I'd say it is a thriller or suspense or something.

Update: The book was: Out of the sun by Robert Goddard http://www.amazon.com/Out-Sun-Robert-...

Other books by the same author
He has another book where the focus is photography (I think). This book has a lot of twists and turns.
Update: The book is "Caught in the light" by Robert Goddard http://www.amazon.com/Caught-Light-Ro...

Also, another book by the same author is about a man who goes to the coast to grieve his wife dying. I think he might be getting signs from her, or something else that gives the book a slightly supernatural feeling.
Update: The book was "Set in stone" by Robert Goddard http://www.amazon.com/Set-Stone-Rober...

Really vague, I know. But maybe the combination can trigger someone's mind?

I'm sorry that my descriptions are very vague, but I'd appreciate any help I could get! :) Thanks in advance!

An initial search turned up Douglas Kennedy, Michael Phillip Cash and Christopher Reich, but these look like partial matches...

Do you recall how the wife died?
Did your author write any science fiction?
Is there a supernatural aspect to most of the stories?
Is there much violence, horror, angst, melancholy, etc. in these stories?

I don't think this is your author, but just to rule it out, Careless in Red has the detective going to the coast (of Cornwall) to grieve his wife dying. However the author of the series is female and there is no supernatural stuff going on. She is American but the whole series is set in Britain.

CthulhuKitten | 11 comments I don't think it is either of the authors/books you guys mentioned, unfortunately. :/ But thanks for trying!

All or most of the books have supernatural hint I think, but I wouldn't classify the books as supernatural.

I think the best way to describe the books is suspense.

CthulhuKitten | 11 comments I actually recalled the name of the author on my own! I just came to me one day after having wondered about this for weeks.

The author is Robert Goddard. I've edited the post and put the names of the different books in the post if anyone is interested.
