Where Dwarves are from? Is it just about them happening before The Lord of the Ring or something else?

Dwarves are made out of stone, that's why most of them are mastar-masons!

Vraccas, the divine blacksmith, and God of the Dwarves, created the five tribes of Dwarves from the Hardest Granite and set them to live under the ground. Hence the term 'groundlings'. Each tribe was given a special gift, the guilds of stonemasons , gem cutters , Ironforge and goldsmiths but all five tribes excel in these skills compared to the Human 'Long-uns'.
Cody, these tales concern the world of Girdlegard, not Middle Earth although that said I'm sure Master Gimli would feel right at home with The Dwarves!!
