Neko
So here are the shelves of unread books...The quality of the photo is pretty bad but low battery :/ Go into my profile and look at the photo to see it bigger if you would like.

======================================
TASK:
I've 1 and half shelves filled up with unread books. I'm trying NOT to add to the collection of unread. I will list how many there are and post up a flick of the small collection.

What I wanna do is finish the lot before next year OR by the middle of next year by the latest. I'm getting tired of seeing the same unread books hanging around.

I'll also list which ones I'm currently reading too. I shall see how I go!

Unread: 62 (at the start)

======================================
READ: Bart Simpson to the Rescue! by Matt Groening Oishinbo a la carte, Volume 5 - Vegetables by Tetsu Kariya Oishinbo a la carte, Volume 2 - Sake by Tetsu Kariya Oishinbo a la carte, Volume 3 - Ramen and Gyoza by Tetsu Kariya Oishinbo a la carte, Volume 4 - Fish, Sushi and Sashimi by Tetsu Kariya Oishinbo a la carte, Volume 6 - The Joy of Rice by Tetsu Kariya Oishinbo a la carte, Volume 7 - Izakaya Pub Food by Tetsu Kariya Morning Glories, Vol. 4 Truants by Nick Spencer Morning Glories, Vol. 5 Tests by Nick Spencer
======================================
TOTAL OF UNREAD BOOKS: 53

Cassandra Page (cassandrapage) Oh, good luck! Mine is two full shelves (single stacked, not double). Plus the books on my kindle - I think it adds up to about 80 books. Utterly terrifying!

Good luck (with not adding to them) Laura! I'm too scared to count how many unread physical books I have:( (And I won't go there with kindle!!)

message 4: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9906 comments Good luck from me too Laura! I hope it works for you!
I've given up counting my unread books as well. Much too scary!

message 5: by Neko (new)

Neko Thanks for the good lucks! :) I'll get this thread up to scratch on Friday when I've oodles of time!

Veronica ⭐️ | 2387 comments Sounds like a great idea Laura. I've been thinking of doing a similar thing but putting it off until next year.

Neko @Veronica - I was going to do the same thing put it off to next year..But I've enlisted my partner to pick out my books to read..So, she picks 5 of them and then I don't have the problem of selecting a book to read BECAUSE I seem to be terrible at choosing..Plus she loves to pick all the thickest books possible..lol So far it's been working well :)

Good luck when you start your goal up too :D

K | 1143 comments I have three shelves overflowing with unread books and I love it! I love having so many books to choose from. I have a read for every mood! Lol.

message 10: by Neko (new)

Neko @Liam - Thanks :)

@Kiera- Yeah, I USED to like that......This small collection of books isn't including another shelf or what is in my wardrobe shelving..LOL However, the ones there are mostly comics/magazines and those I'll muddle along with without much worry...Books on the other hand just seem to collect dust.

message 11: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments I also have a huge pile on my bedside table and I just came out of a Rotary Book Sale with 16 books. Lol. I'm tellin' ya... I am a serious addict. Lol

message 13: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 328 comments I have about 100 unread books on my bookshelves and I'm starting to lose tracks of titles, so I decided a couple of months ago to read only these next year, and only borrow library books for group reads. Not sure how I'll go but I will try ...

message 14: by Carolyn (last edited Oct 18, 2014 11:13PM) (new)

Carolyn | 9906 comments I have been inspired by you Laura to sort through the 75 unread books sitting on my bedside table (yes 75, in four large stacks leaning against the wall). I have chosen 10 I want to try and read by the end of the year (1 per week) and have put the rest into three large cane storage boxes. When I've read the first 10 I'll select another 10 and so on. I will try not to acquire any more paperbacks in the meantime (haha, as if!)

This will not deal with the problem of my kindle but will make my hubby very happy (especially since he doesn't know about the boxes of unread books under the bed. Oops!)

message 15: by Neko (new)

Neko @Lesley - That sounds like a good challenge to yourself! It's so tempting to try and read other books at the same time. I actually have a few books on my kindle on the go as well! haha Good luck :)

@Carolyn - Awesome! Yes, the problem of not trying to acquire anymore books! Lol Oh how many are under the bed?

message 16: by Neko (new)

Neko Currently standing I have 62 unread books on the shelf!

Mary (bookworm60) | 367 comments Wow Laura. You are really moving along with this challenge! Very inspiring. I really like Carolyn's idea of one per week too. I've actually started reading of my list since I've joined this group and posts like yours are really helpful. Thanks

message 24: by Neko (new)

Neko Thanks Mary! Admittedly I'm hitting the quicker books than the longer novels..hahaha...But everything counts so it's a win win :)

And no worries..Have you set yourself a challenge on here? Sometimes I find that can also help with reading..Not sure why it works but it does for me.

message 27: by Neko (new)

Neko so...this challenge will resume in feb! Using my new s4 to write comments on here n it's quite difficult to see new posts :(

message 28: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9906 comments Doing well Laura!

You've inspired me to do something about my unread paperbacks and I've challenged myself to read 50 this year so I'll have to see if I can keep up with you :)

message 29: by Neko (new)

Neko Nice! Well i wish you the best of luck with it :)

message 30: by Neko (new)

Neko due to being on my phone I'm unsure if i can delete this thread myself. I'm going to completely can this for now. So, if a mod would like to chuck this thread into the deleted area that would be helpful n thank you too :)
