NetGalley has in its Mystery & Thrillers Lars Kepler's Lars Kepler The Rabbit Hunter The Rabbit Hunter by Lars Kepler published 14 January 2020. Sweden.

The latest internationally best-selling installment in the Joona Linna series sees him temporarily called back to the police force to solve a series of bizarre and increasingly horrifying murders.

Detective Joona Linna is finishing out a sentence at Kumla prison for assaulting an officer in the course of his last investigation when he is summoned to a meeting with the Swedish Prime Minister. The Foreign Minister has been brutally murdered. There's a chance more political figures could be targeted. The police need Linna to find the killer and neutralize the threat, so he's granted a temporary release from prison. But when another murder occurs, Linna realizes he's dealing with something far more complex, and far more terrifying, than anyone imagined. As the body count grows, Linna begins to understand that he can't do this alone and he reaches out to Saga Bauer, the young Security Police detective, for help. Now, together, the two race against time to unravel the killer's intricate plan before he can take his ultimate revenge.

My one paragraph review:

Joona in jail!!! I must have missed something somewhere, and he gets out for working on a case for the police and gets his own office. And he has a new love interest hiding on a gardening nursery out in the country. But I regress, what we have is a murder that is very well trained killing people for a specific reason. This we will find out but it takes another killing to find out the reason. Joona finds that there was a rape on an exclusive school 30 years before. What he doesn't find out was that Rex who was questioned had a son that he now loved and would quit drinking to make it up to him, because he had lived with his ex-wife all his life up until now. Saga ( a co-worker) was working on the case from another angle and contributed much needed information about people. The case is really involved and you have many interesting stories to go with it. The ending is a possible another book. I would recommend this story to people who like noir stories.
