The Plot: There was an old lady who invited a young girl over to her house ( i can't remember why, they were strangers ). There were a bunch of souvenirs and one of them was a surf board. The young girl asks how she got it.
The old lady was okay with sharing the story of it. Which involved her love story. The story goes as a girl who was of high social status. She was rich, had a father who could do anything. She was brought up to be prim and proper.
One day she was at the beach, and she met a man with unkempt hair. He was walking around the beach, and he had a very free-spirit vibe to him ( kinda like a hippie haha ). She was p interested in him, what was this homeless yet attractive man doing at the beach? She continues to meet him and learns more about him. If i'm not mistaken, he loves the earth. He also meditates a lot.
I also remembered seaweed and maybe even cigarettes being involved

She eventually falls in love with him, and he was indifferent but was okay with the idea of that. She tells her father, who thought this was only a side-fling. He was shocked when he found out his daughter actually wanted to marry this boy.
He eventually agreed, but he made them live in some old house in a forest. Near a beach.
They went to live there, and the house was taken over by nature. The man likes it but the woman started cleaning it up.
They have a child. I can't remember what happens but it gets a bit heated between the two. They fight. The man disappears, and the woman's heart is broke. Father is like "HAHAH SHOULD'VE LISTENED TO PAPA".
She goes windsurfing to find him. She found him and tells him how much she loves him. And the man shook his head and broke it to her that this is not how he should live. He needs to be free. Or something like that.

I'm sorry if the story is messy, it's actually a really good one according to my memory, I just suck at story telling.
The Cover: It is an illustration of a beach. Lineless kind of art, I can't think of an example but it's a bit like Maya Kern's work. you can't see the sky, it's from bird's eye view. but it seems like seagulls were flying in the sea. a girl stands on the beach.
