I can agree with that, because I felt that he was kind of standoffish towards Georgie, I can see how maybe his side could be a little blah in terms of what he thinks.

I wondered if Neal was supposed to have undiagnosed Asperger. Georgie raises the question first in regards to Neal's mother, but I feel that Neal portrayed many classic Asperger symptoms which could have explained their communication problems.

I totally liked Seth better. He made her happy and supported her career. Neal is abusive and I couldn't help but picture him as Paul Giamatti! (Gag)

Georgie puts her family first by sacrificing her time to earn all of their money while Neal stays home and makes her look like a monster.

Mariam Elmohandes I think the ending was good, the whole point of the book is not about magic telephone or that things will work out eventually, it's about knowing where you stand in a relationship and how you contribute to make it better. Rainbow Rowell didn't promise happy ending, she indicated that marriage has it's ups and downs moments in the final chapters when Georgie's mom was talking about how relationship works. The ending is not that by Georgie showing up to Neal at Christmas that everything will be ok. What Neal wanted is for Georgie to be around, to listen to him. Neal was lost and needed Georgie but she was too busy, he didn't held her or complained about that she is successful, he wanted just to spend time with her. What matters in the novel isn't the future or the past. It's the present time, to show up when you're wanted and needed. They will face problems later in live but what it matters that Georgie and Neal have each other for now. Also i love the idea of the telephone as a way of showing Georgie what went wrong or what she needed to do,which was listening to neal not being selfish and wanting him all by herself without thinking of the consequences.
It's a beautiful novel that makes you think about other people's perspectives.

Colleen Sizemore How dare she make me fall in love with Seth.
