What do you think of Minerva?

I liked Minerva and had hoped to see more of her as a foil to Artemis.

I wasn't really fond of her throughout the book, and honestly, I'm sort of happy she didn't make a reappearance.

I loved her. Really, I did.
Minerva really excited me because seriously? A younger, female Artemis? Think of the possibilities.

Plus, she was realistic enough, as far as fictional child prodigies though. I think it's sort of a double standard that she has basically the same traits as Artemis, but instead of being called hot or cute or awesome like Artemis, she's called annoying and a Mary Sue. I don't think she's a Mary Sue.

Mary Sue
A female fanfiction character who is so perfect as to be annoying. The girl isn't perfect. Far from it. She gets scared, gets weak, can be selfish and unwise, and most importantly she's not as smart or smarter than Artemis.
Often, the Mary Sue is a self-insert with a few "improvements" (ex. better body, more popular, etc). Is she a self-insert? I highly doubt it. Does she have improvements Colfer would have wanted for himself? Aside from her intelligence, I don't think so. On the other hand, I know a few fangirls clearly jealous and bitter because Minerva is actually a person Artemis would like.
The Mary Sue character is almost always beautiful, smart, etc... In short, she is the "perfect" girl. Once again, I'd like to point out that though she's pretty in Artemis' opinion and definitely a genius, she's not perfect.
The Mary Sue usually falls in love with the author's favorite character(s) and winds up upstaging all of the other characters in the book/series/universe. Do they fall in love? No. I think it's because that would be unrealistic. Upstaging? Hardly. Artemis and Holly outshine her any day.

And I was really disappointed when she didn't show up again. I repeat, she's a younger, female Artemis. You can't just introduce a character like that then completely exclude them forever. Not to mention Butler said she had been waiting for Artemis. Bleh. Just bleh.

I know people who hate her because she "gets in the way" of their HollyxArtemis otp or because she's too much of a "copycat". But I think if she was given the chance, she could have been a really dynamic and interesting character. Her own character. Plus, if you're not into MinervaxArtemis, I think Artemis would have needed a friend like her around. I mean, come on. Quark jokes.

Sorry for the wordy opinion. I'm not trying to bash or anything, I just really like Minerva.

That's what fanfics are for, I guess?
But then...maybe I'm not looking in the right places but...
Doesn't it feel like there's a severe lack of decent AF fanfics with her (in which she isn't portrayed as an annoying Mary Sue)?
Or fanfics in this fandom in general? I just read the books, so maybe the fandom's already dead and I didn't notice.

nope didn't like her she was annoying, bratty and in my opinion a surplus character and it was good riddance when she didn't show up on the next book and no i'm not into the whole artemis+holly otp either, that whole kissy-kissy thing was too weird.
