Adrienne | 60 comments I have been so busy with school that I do not have that much time to read. I was thinking for winter break we should all re-read books we have not read in awhile. It's just a thought. It would be a nice break from endless school work!

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Agreed! It would be nice to go back to some old favourite, but I just can't seem to find the time right now because of school.

I already know which books I want to read again. There are at least 10 of them. I also want to re read the lunar chronicles before fairest comes out in January!

message 4: by Ivaiah (new)

Ivaiah Rose (ivmcan) It sounds like an awesome read-a-thon!

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments This sounds fun! Do you want to make it an "official" readathon where some of us post about it to let people know, do challenges and such? By the way, if you guys don't want to, it's totally fine.

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) It sounds awesome!!!!

I don't even know how to do that. Lol i would like to see it happen though.

Leigh Morris (justonemorechapt3r) | 6 comments Sounds like a great idea. what books did you have in mind?

message 9: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 60 comments The night circus, catch 22, Harry Potter, child 44, shadow of the wind, lunar chronicles, and his dark materials. It's been awhile since I've read these amazing books.

You can always make a group here on goodreads, set the date and I'm sure we'd all be more than happy to promote it.

message 13: by Anna (new)

Anna (abookobsessed) I would also love to take part in this read-a-thon! I only read 2 books since school started and this isn't enough at all! :D

I'd love to, if it's okay with Adrienne.

So.... Would it be okay if I make a group, Adrienne? You, of course, would be a moderator too.

message 16: by Wil (new)

Wil | 56 comments Sounds amazing let me know what I can do to help get it going, I could think of challanges if we wanted them, or come up with possible giveaways

message 17: by Hanna (new)

Hanna | 4 comments good idea

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) I can help with giveaways and hosting. Are you thinking about making this a thing on booktube? I'd love to host and help set up

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments I really want to make it a thing, but I'll do it when I have Adrienne's permission. Then I'll set up things so people who are interested can be hosts too

message 20: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 60 comments Make it happen guys. I do not care what goes on! I do know that most read-a-thons are only a week. But there is NO WAY I can read what I want to in one week!!!

message 21: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 60 comments Anna (Unquenchable Reads) wrote: "I can help with giveaways and hosting. Are you thinking about making this a thing on booktube? I'd love to host and help set up"

I have been trying to create my own booktube channel, but I just never get around to it. :( I do use tumblr and goodreads for book related things.

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments Awesome! Do you guys know when Winter break actually is?

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments For me, it's December 22 - January 2, should it be one week, or should it be the whole break?

message 24: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 60 comments Well mine is a whole month. (College) I think we just get longer breaks. So that is why I was thinking the full month.

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments Hmm... I'm going to let more people say the time of their break and see the majority

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) Mine is 2 weeks. The week of Christmas and the week of New Years

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) Adrienne you should create a booktube!!! It's so much fun and a great community of people who love books

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) If someone makes the group for it, could you message me? I might forget to check this topic

message 29: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 60 comments I know! I just AHHH! I am camera shy. I would not even know where to begin. Bookshelf tour? Random book reviews? idk. Maybe one day. I am trying to keep up with my tumblr, but I am so behind!!!

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments Anna (Unquenchable Reads) wrote: "If someone makes the group for it, could you message me? I might forget to check this topic"

I will, just waiting for the exact date :D

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) I'm still camera shy...... But I keep pushing myself to make videos because it make me happy to talk about books. It's easier once you get started with it. I started with an intro (which was horribly filmed and cringe worthy....) maybe start out with a tag video? Idk. Or maybe a book review

Anna (Unquenchable Reads) (unquenchablereads) I don't have a tumblr. I just got a twitter so I'm alittle behind on social media

I'm getting nervous just thinking about it!

message 34: by Aileen (last edited Oct 11, 2014 09:15PM) (new)

Aileen Ooh! I'd love to do this!I'll probably reread Harry Potter if I can sneak it away from my brother.

My winter break also lasts from the 22nd to the 2nd, but I do have 2 days on either side that are the weekend days.

I don't have a Booktube channel either. I'm really camera shy too and I find it easier to keep a book blog because I find it takes too much time to film and edit and upload and everything.

message 35: by Ivaiah (new)

Ivaiah Rose (ivmcan) This sounds like a ton of fun and I'd love to host! I have my channel over on booktube, and we could split up the challenges between that and here on goodreads or something.

A great way to start is doing something like the My Life in Books tag, it helps people get to know you, it's really fun, and you get to talk about books you love. It does get easier, what people didn't see in my first video was the 15 minutes of me making awkward dinosaur sounds trying not to freak out.

So funny! I know it would be about something I love. I watch book videos all the time. I like to see what others are reading.

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments Hm.... Should it just be the week of Christmas and New Years?

message 39: by Ivaiah (new)

Ivaiah Rose (ivmcan) Alma wrote: "Hm.... Should it just be the week of Christmas and New Years?"

I don't know about you guys, but that week is always super crazy for me with family and helping get everything ready. Could we do the week before Christmas?

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

My break is three weeks starting 19th

message 41: by Wil (new)

Wil | 56 comments I believe my break falls around the 22nd to the 2nd and I would love to be a host and can anyone teach me how to start a blog I have many ideas but do not even know where to begin but I do read quite a lot... Inbox or reply please

message 42: by Jayne (new)

Jayne (BookingAwesome) | 26 comments I love this idea! I can host and spread the word too with my blog. I just need to know about groups/ channels/ various other things as well as dates. I can help with challenges and giveaways too. (I just can't do international shipping because that is way too expensive)

I think we should do it for the whole month too because not everyone can read what they want to in two weeks and I still don't know when my winter break is.

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments I like the idea of it being one month, because for the people who celebrate Chriatmas (I don't), I don't think they will be able to read that much and also, the week before the break is when I usually have tests and such. But still, it would be quite a challenge to host it for a whole month... What do you guys think?

message 44: by Jayne (new)

Jayne (BookingAwesome) | 26 comments Maybe two and half weeks or three weeks because people might loose interest in a month long read-a-thon. It still gives people who celebrate all the holidays time to read. What about December 18th to January 1st? I looked at the calendar and that seems long enough.

I like the two week idea, a whole month seems really awesome but also super intense.

message 46: by Jayne (new)

Jayne (BookingAwesome) | 26 comments How should we organize it though? I know that's a weird question, but are we going to have a group here on Goodreads or host it through various YouTube channels and blogs or both.

message 47: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 60 comments So December 22 to January 22. Maybe each week can be a certain challenge?

Ateeninwonderland | 26 comments That sounds like a good idea

message 49: by Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (last edited Oct 12, 2014 10:52AM) (new)

Alma (Diary of a Booklover) (diaryofabooklover) | 38 comments Can anybody make some kind of logo for it?
