M— | 62 comments Would someone please combine the author COELHO PAULO with Paulo Coelho?

Coelho is a Goodreads author, and I haven't figured out how to combine authors with that status yet.

Got 'im.

M— | 62 comments Thanks much! Is that a super-librarian trick? I've been diligently googling, but I haven't found any instructions on how I can do this myself yet.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2409 comments M, I think any librarian can do this. You'd have gone to the author profile page for COELHO PAULO and changed the name to Paulo Coelho. You then get a screen asking which author you want to keep, and you'd choose Paulo Coelho. The works from both would merge and COELHO PAULO would no longer be an author here.

No, it's a only-GR-staff trick. ;)

There's a workaround for other librarians, which has been discussed here. But it's obviously simpler for me to just do it, especially when a significant number of books is involved.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2409 comments Ah, I just did 2 today. I didn't know it was, I guess, a Super Librarian thing.

Oh, then that was changed. Good!

message 8: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2409 comments Yes, Today I changed an L. M. Montgomery and a Lucy Maud Montgomery to the full profile and most used L.M. Montgomery, and then combined all the merged books.

Yes, but she's dead. So I doubt she is a Goodreads Author. ;)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2409 comments Ah! Yes, you're right. Only staff can do this with a Goodreads author. I'd forgotten that he was. But any librarian can do an author not a Goodreads member, correct?

Edit: I obviously didn't carefully read the previous posts. Multi-tasking: not a good idea for me!

Correct.

M— | 62 comments Hee! Thanks all for your help in hashing out my question. I'm pleased to learn I can stop my attempts at googling for a solution now!

Purr More (m222) | 41 comments I came across these two pages for one author. Could someone please combine them?

amber (neverling) | 3 comments Not sure how to combine authors! But these two are the same:

Can someone combine them?

Thanks! :)

No, they are not. The first was deliberately disambiguated (separated) from the second.

message 18: by amber (new)

amber (neverling) | 3 comments Are you very sure? His website lists a couple of the same books from the second author's page I linked.

http://www.timothycarterworld.com/

message 19: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 2459 comments They were deliberately separated, yes.

This Timothy Carter is Timothy^^Carter (where each ^ is a space). This Timothy Carter is Timothy^Carter.

We disambiguate like this on our end, but when books get imported from other sites they always go to the one-space name, so they have to be moved to the correct profile.

I moved over all the books that belong to Timothy^^Carter.
