Simon returns home to find his mother not only has rejected him but considers him a monster and has barricaded her home with religious symbols. Your thoughts about her reaction?

I felt awful for him, too. Overreacting is putting it mildly. It’s her child...you’d think she’d want to hold on to him in any way. It was a double failure for him to see his faith used against him.
