I've just started reading East Lynne for this challenge. First chapter down, heaps to go :)

Thank heavens for online ordering, because I would never be able to find these books in Australian book stores. Unfortunately, English classics outside the major ones of Austen, Dickens etc are hard to find. And Queensland's not considered an arty and literary state like some areas of Melbourne and Sydney.

Just finished reading Jill by Amy Dillwyn, which fits this challenge. You know those characters that are basically sh*t-stirrers and you kind of just love them for it? That's Jill. I just really enjoyed this sapphic, adventurous, selfish, nosy, unapologetic woman so much. 10/10 would recommend.

My one regret about this book is that was *this close* to getting a bingo on it, and missed it. There were more than a few scenes where I was "is it gonna do the thing and give me a bingo??" and it did not and I am disappointed. Not least because I am one spot away from bingo in five different places. I didn't know it was possible to fill so much of a board and still not get bingo lol. Oh well, I've just gotta home my next read is more fruitful.

Wow, Hannah, keep with it - I've just finished it - took me about 10 days. But I've given it a 5-star review. Very surprised that I had never heard of it or the author before.

I’m looking forward to reading Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell. This will be my first Gaskell novel as well.

Lady Audley’s Secret finished and thoroughly enjoyed! A well written and descriptive novel from an unknown to me author. My first Victober challenge completed.

I just watched Angie’s YouTube video of her TBR. Now I’m interested in Hester by Mary Oliphant! But right now, it’s staying in my to read list.

I’m trying to focus on East Lynne. I’ve never read any of Mrs Henry Wood, but so far I’m up to chapter 7. I really hope she gets a happy ending. That’s what fiction is right? 😉

I didn't read anymore of Middlemarch this week, but I did start Wuthering Heights. I like how the edition I got from the library has big print.

I am reading and Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell. I bought it last year for the group readalong but did not get to it. This is the first Gaskell I've read so bonus for me! I'm so glad we still have access to Victober 2018 forums, as I'm really enjoying the comments and insights from last year. I'm trying to keep to the schedule of two chapters a day which is perfect because there are 60 chapters. ☺ I am loving it.

Just finished some selected poems by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Really happy that I have picked this up, because I had never heard of her before, no clue why. I really enjoyed reading most of her poems.
