Katie | 2360 comments Our next read-a-thon of the year starts on Saturday, September 7th and has a team challenge!

This read-a-thon we are incorporating some of your feedback. We will have smaller teams, and we will try to organize teams by time zone to facilitate better group coordination.

Info about the game will be posted in the next day or so.

For those of you who have done a read-a-thon for the this group in the past, this should look familiar. If you're new to this, allow us to explain!

What do I have to do to participate?
If you are interested in participating and can commit to actively engaging in the read-a-thon, then please sign up in the comments below. We have chosen the categories so this group activity is fair and fun for readers of all speeds.

Please only sign up if you can commit to checking in with your team (on Goodreads) at least 4 times during the time from September 7-15.

How many teams will there be?
We will be targeting smaller group size this read-a-thon, so the number of teams will depend on how many of you sign up.

For general information about the read-a-thon, visit the announcement post.

QUESTIONNAIRE (This helps us sort teams!)
1. What is your estimated reading speed (slow, medium, fast)?
2. How many books do you usually finish in a week?
3. Which time zone do you live in?
4. Can you commit to checking in with your team frequently during the read-a-thon?
5. Are you interested in being a team leader for your group? (i.e. keeping track of team totals, needed tasks, updating spreadsheet, etc.)

Note: Teams will be assigned on Friday, September 6 in order to allow time to strategize and discuss the event more. You can still sign up after that date.

I'm worried that we won't have any team leaders... I'd rather not as when I co-lead most the activity happened when I wasn't around and I don't think I'd be that great leading a US based team! But I can help out daytime BST a bit...

And no work to go to - although there are still some errands to run and a wedding to go to this afternoon :-/

I will! Woohoo!

As for the turf wars thing - I'm not sure, but I see Emily is in another group that has a game that I think is called turf wars and perhaps she might have thought you were in that group as well, and offering to be in charge of a team for it? If you aren't, maybe there's another Johanne she was mixing you up with...

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments yeah that's what I thought at first. Johanne/ Joanne/ Joanna are really common. She'll tell us when she sees this :) I'm off to bed and then it's soon readathon for me as well.
