Fictional book in which workaholic husband get home late. He has missed his kids birthday party. He's eating leftover Chinese food from refrigerator when one of the kids who is sleeping over from the party wakes up and asks him for something. The kid is exposed to the peanuts in his food and dies from being allergic to the peanuts. The guys life continues to spiral downward. I think the book came out in the 90's(?)
