I really loved the "Cowboys vs Aliens" movie". I have no idea if there was a book for this, as I have really been too busy with lots of stuff in my life to read for fun anymore.
I am new on Goodreads, and this group caught my eye, as I like all kinds of cowboy stuff, and even the weird new mixes, like alien cyborg time travel ghost town themed stuff.
Anyway glad to meet all of you.

I actually liked the movie better than the comic. It's not often you say that the movie had more polish to the narrative than the source. Still worth a read though.

It never mattered much to me if the person had a PhD. in english or not, or was a graduate of some such fancy school of writing. What mattered most was if the story was good, and if I enjoyed it, and if there was a sequel, then I would go and look for more.

Afterall. it would not mean much if they were telling you how to "fix a car" so to speak, without any knowledge of how to do this.

I'm tryin to figure this out since I'm working on web stuff right now. I kind of loathe writing about myself seriously at all. I'm too damn silly.
I think you can keep it pretty simple Ashe. Just say as much as you feel like, you can keep it short if you feel better that way. Most "about" stuff in books just says "So and So lives in so and so with his his wife and kids, or dogs, or whatever. On a web page, as mentioned earlier, you can list influences, hobbies, things like that, but I'm like you, I dont like writing about myself either.

Yeah, "About" sections seem to be a bit of background on the author, influences, and why they write what they write. Personable, funny, witty, or dry seem to be the most common choices of author voice when doing this section. But above all be yourself.

I'm just gonna relax and enjoy the holidays, not gonna do anything major book wise. Wait till next year is what I say.
Too many things to do right now, although once things calm down I hope to try to be reading with all of you.
With a bit of holiday money I finally got a copy of one of the "Merkabah Rider" books (book #2), and as a few of you guys have said before, it is indeed awesome. I do however wish the publisher had made the first book available for Kindle; I'm buying my new reads there as I'm trying to consolidate my library ahead of a big move and I wish I could have gotten the first book in the series digitally.
But that being said, did anyone pick up any new books over the holiday?

Ok, I might do that. I figured it was a publisher decision, not his. Good on Ed for getting the rights to his books back! Re-releasing them on his own isn't really difficult, but the legal wrangling with the publisher might be the tricky part, as I understand it.
