Simon goes for prolonged periods without feeding. Is he in denial? Would his behavior differ if he became more associated with a vampire clan?

Simon is still so very human and the thought of hurting someone else for his own needs disturbs him. It's not something he would ever do. It's possible that being associated with a clan may help him overcome that.

Do you think that him being a “daylighter” makes him different in this respect...that he feels more human than vampire?

[Jessika]

He doesn't exactly fit in with humans or Shadowhunters, and being a daylighter makes other vampires not trust him. He's basically clanless from all sides. His life would be very different if he were in a clan.
