I never did get this aspect of the book. Cassidy sent Ezra to all of her debates and threw the ones that were supposed to be his. What did that accomplish? She was still technically debating, she still lost her unbeatable title, and if there was anyone in the room to recognize her, they would have realized Ezra wasn't supposed to be there (and no one did). She said everything was randomized anyway - what did it accomplish?
