A recent excellent read is the brand new Legacy, an Aussie outback thriller by a favourite journalist-turned fiction writer, Chris Hammer. I'm developing a soft spot for former journos who seem to understand what matters in a story, how to keep it moving, and tell it well.
My review of Legacy
The Book of Autumn by Molly O'Sullivan
was a disappointment.2 Stars

Supernatural Crimes Unit: NYPD by Keith R. A. DeCandido
was a disappointment. I had 'X-Files' vibes and not a lot of supernatural.2 Stars

Orphanland by Lauren Fischer
A middle-grade mystery covering some really dark themes. Was a mixed experience for me, but I am again an outlier.

Through Each Tomorrow by Gabrielle Meyer
The sixth book of the brilliant Timeless series. Historical fiction combined with time travel in a mesmerising way.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Ship of Spells by H. Leighton Dickson
was a good story, but I feel a lot of history and character development was left out that would have made it even better.A low 3 Stars

The Book of Lost Hours by Hayley Gelfuso
A historical speculative fiction with some outstanding themes and characters. I really enjoyed this debut novel!

Willow Rose by M. Kevin Hayden
was a disappointment. It was telling, not showing.1 Star... wished I DNFed...

I know this isn't a NG book, but I got it from their 'social site' Booktrovert.
Just finished
The Hawk is Dead by Peter James - what a brilliant book, I'd recommend this to anyone, a thriller with a royal theme!!Here's my 5* review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Before I Forget

The Futue Saints
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Currently 1/1 finished with Pendergast, The Beginning by Preston & Child. So far “just okay, at best. Hope the second half improves.
Forever Ripley by McCall Hoyle
This MG book made me cry so hard! An amazing story written from a dog's perspective.

The remote and sparsely settled west coast of New Zealand's South Island makes a great setting for NZ author Chris Blake's new thriller, Softly Calls the Devil. I hope we see more of the small town cop who was once a high-powered detective.
My review of Softly Calls the Devil
How to Survive a Fairy Bargain by Laura J. Mayo
The second book of the Fairies and Familiars duology. A decent fairytale fantasy, but not as strong as the first book in terms of plot.
